We had the good fortune of connecting with Lana Navarro and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lana, can you tell us about an impactful book you’ve read and why you liked it or what impact it had on you?
Recently, I read “Who Moved My Cheese” by Spencer Johnson. It’s such a good book to read about adapting to the ever-changing aspects of everything in life. I loved reading about the 4 different characters and how they all responded to change. One of the biggest takeaways from the book is basically that change is inevitable and it’s up you to decide how you’re going to respond to it. It was also fun to realize that we are all of these characters at one point in time in our lives.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Making macarons is an extremely volatile and delicate art. It’s been an overwhelming journey of working with the ingredients and finding a harmony among them. Aquafaba is the main ingredient and it is as temperamental as it’s counterpart, with the slightest change in temperature and humidity can completely ruin the batch. My biggest struggle was navigating through the Texas summer heat and humidity. After countless failed attempts, I decided to take a sanity break and had the opportunity to go on vacation and spend time with my family, making these core memories that helped inspire and motivate me for my next season. It takes heart and love of the art to continue through all of the adversities of any small business, as well as the product. Every macaron you enjoy is a hug from me to you, made with the utmost love and care. Faire Moments is based on the idea that the macarons are meant to help in creating memories – whether being a part of an event or a regular day.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were to visit the area, it’d have to be Bucc-ees, for that Texas iconic snack stop, and then just an introduction of some of my favorite places to go – The Dallas Arboretum, the Legacy Shops, 7 leaves tea, any of the many amazing parks… I honestly don’t go out much. I love cooking and entertaining at home. It’s still fun to look at small boutiques and unique shops.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Outside of my family (who have been everything from my inspiration, my motivation, and my constant supporters), I’d love to recognize my friend, Jamie Anne. She owns the Icing Castle, a dessert shop in Winnipeg, MB. Not only was she the one who first encouraged me to even try making macarons for the first time, she’s shared her own recipe with me, walked me through all the trial and errors to come up with the best recipe for my product. She is my constant inspiration for new flavors and ideas, and she encourages to trust in my product and to know it’s worth. I imagine, if it weren’t for all of her guidance and encouragement, I would have never started to have gotten to where I am today.
