We had the good fortune of connecting with Channing Cole and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Channing, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Work life balance is extremely important to me at this point in my career. When I was getting started I had to grind it out and work less than ideal hours. I am now at a place where I am able to chose my hours and physically work less and better hours, so that I can spend more time with my husband and son. My husband and I also work together on some business ventures, which is a win win. We can spend time together and with our son while advancing our businesses.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I started out as a hair stylist and eventually started my own business. I was able to quickly build a solid client base with my ideal clients using instagram. I worked for Ryan & Jeni Weeden of Masters of Balayage where I learned how valuable instagram can be in building a business and how to use it to find my ideal clients. Now I have the best clients that I am so grateful for.

My husband and I got into real estate investing when we purchased a home with a back house. We turned the back house into a furnished rental unit while living in the main house. We were able use the profits from the back house rental to purchase another home. We now own a few more rental properties. It’s a lot of work up front, and it’s an ongoing responsibility, but we love the flexibility it gives us and being able to work together.

After being so involved in real estate investing and managing our rental properties I eventually decided to get my real estate license. I am now working towards building that business.

No matter what industry I find myself in I care about the person first. Whether it be my hair clients, real estate clients or tenants I try to go above and beyond to serve them.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Whenever we have out of town visitors some of the places we like to take them are the stockyards, maybe a rodeo, Woodshed Smoke House, Babes, FW Botanical Gardens, Water Gardens, one time we took friends horseback riding! There are too many great restaurants to name them all!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
God deserves all the shout outs, I have been blessed in so many ways! My husband is my biggest blessing. He has always believed in me and pushes me to succeed. I look up to him in so many ways, he is an incredible role model. He is also an entrepreneur, which makes life fun. It’s exciting to bounce ideas off of each other and work towards goals together. I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for him.
