We had the good fortune of connecting with Slab Jonez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Slab, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Well for me being artistic is something I have a passion for. I believe creating something from scratch is truly authentic.

Pursing a career strictly for something I’m passionate for is refreshingly original, and honestly I just feel like I can be myself. Someone who’s totally at peace when it comes to being an Artist.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a fully committed Musical Artist I’ve been writing songs for over 10 years and have recorded and produced over 100 records I have over six albums of released music to the world and many more songs that has never been released.

I’ve worked with various local artist and have met some of the top producers in the music business.

Also If I’m not mistaken I’m the only one or one of the few artist ever from Fort Worth, Tx who’s won first place at the Coast 2 Coast video music awards with my single “Windows” dedicated to my dear friend who had passed way a few years ago.

Not to mention Coast 2 Coast is one of the biggest upcoming artist showcase platforms out there.

Where I am today was only a matter of time because of how hard I’ve worked and I’m still improving everyday.

When I’m not even where I would like to be on the better half because their is still many other artist I would love to work with like –

Marissa, SZA, Keshia Cole, Ashanti, Mary J. Blidge, Pharrell, Bizzle, Koryn Hawthorne, KEM, Gucci Mane, B.O.B. Juelz Santana, Nelly, Wiz Khalifa, Kid Ink, K Camp, Eightball Chingy, J.Cole, August Alaina, Boosie, Sade, Scarface, T.I. Many others I’ll love to share the studio with truly.

I’ve overcome some serious obstacles, life threatening actually because back in 2016-2019 I was very sick with heart issues I was dealing with a lot of health problems which caused me to get diagnosed from doctors that I had a heart tear in my pulmonary valve and a severe case of anxiety and depression.

Before I got back healthy while still trying to pursue an NFL career coming from college and still trying to find the time to do music as well. Those significant years in life played a major part in my life today musically because it gave me so much to talk about.

A lot of lessons was learned along the way like being consistent in your work ethic and to not allow the challenges in your life defeat you from your passions and goals.

So today I would love the world to know about who I am is that I’m a warrior at this thing we call Life and my brand on who I am is about being originally refreshing and authentic who’s very talented and soulful.

As for my story I’ll let the world know that the most important gift in the world you can ever give anyone is the gift of prayer because I’m a living witness.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Truly I’m still learning Los Angeles but for a week long trip with my A1 Day 1’’s first thing we have to do is get some good food.

I must shoutout to Roscoes Chicken & Waffles Yessauh! Also American Deli off Crenshaw they Bussin for real then we must hit Delilah’s or The Lobster in Santa Monica.

Then probably hit a Sports event like a Lakers basketball game then we must hit Venice beach or the Santa Monica pier probably after that check out the Griffith observatory or park with a nice hike.

We must go to Rodeo drive in Beverly Hills to get our shop on for some dope designer apparel.

I’m still not too familiar with the night life just yet like bars or clubs so if any suggestions let ya boy know fosho!

We must check out the Urban lights then slide by Hollywood afterwards and I’m not gone lie being out here L.A. the city got some dope music studios so we must hit the studio to lay down a track no doubt.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost I have to shoutout my Lord and Savior Jesus The Christ of Nazareth.

Also I want to shoutout to my family first starting with my Mother Sandy Marshall, I love her so much. Shoutout to my Grandpa Willis Marshall Jr. he was a minister for thirty years and was a major key in spiritual life.

I want to shoutout to my dear Sister MaQuela Noel Marshall . I want my sister to know her big brother is so proud of her!

MaQuela has worked so hard over the years with all she’s been through and now she’s currently a PhD graduate student at USC in Los Angeles, California.
