We had the good fortune of connecting with Kevin Alan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kevin, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
I believe habits are the foundation of both failure and success. The habits we create eventually become our playbook. I realized my bad habits, such as alcohol, vanity, and dreaming more than doing, all contributed to a negative outcome even with the greatest ideas or plans. I used to think I needed to do everything by myself to achieve ultimate sucess, I now know it takes a team of trusted people to bring dreams to reality. I believe in good habits such as timliness, communication, taking responsibility, and living an authentic and honest life to the best of my ability.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started my work career as a CT State Correctional Officer for 21 years, I loved my job. I retired at 42, with a lifelong love of politics and always wanting to do more I found my way into the local political scene. My political career consists of 2 consective terms as a chief elected officer or mayor of my town, and then one term as a CT State Representaive for the 45th district in CT. I chose to leave elected office after becoming frustrated with the failed system. During this time I was also a part owner of a local pub in my town. Looking for a fresh start and allowing my entreprenual spirit to guide me I jumped into working with a large CBD company. I was the managing partner of a 40 acre hemp grow, and as a bonus decided to live right on the farm, off the grid, for a year. Looking back, this year changed me in so many positive ways, I appreciated nature like never before, spent many days working in the hot sun and nights looking up at the stars, living without all the modern conveniences that we all get so accustomed to having and I genuinely loved every minute of it. After the grow season came to an end, I found myself as a consultant with other farms including the processing, manufacturing and retail aspects of the CBD world. I still felt something was missing in my life, that I had more dreams to fulfill. As a very young child I had a love of talk/news radio and always dreamed of becoming an actor. It didn’t take long for me to realize podcasting was a natural fit, combining my love of talking with politics while allowing me to create a character that would help scratch my itch for acting. The podcast evolved from a very intense, one-sided, politically charged show to a more relaxed, open, welcoming show that brings all sides together rather than ripping them apart. I have had the privledge to meet the most amazing people form all over the world. I feel blessed and beyond fortunate to have found a job that doesn’t feel like work at all. Throughout my journey I’ve learned to trust energy or my gut feeling, to cherish people that lift me up and to leave relationships that don’t support me.
I want the world to know that it’s taken me a lifetime to realize the importance of being authentic and honest, two traits that I now value above all else.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in New England so am very fortunate to live central to NYC, Boston, beaches, mountains, casinos, home of New England Football, great food and beautiful seasons. I would make sure to visit great local pubs to show my friend the real hard working people I love so much, Since it’s September, maybe go to Gillette Stadium to see a Pats game, head to Boston for some chowdah and clam cakes, a day or 2 in New Hampshire for mountains and beautiful fall foliage, and a day in NYC for some amazing cuisine and city life. We have everything within driving distance and could jam pack the week with all the classic New England fun.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to give a huge shoutout to Raul Villacis of Next Level Experience whom was pivotol in my journey to success. His infectious positivity, spirituality and never give up attitude helped shape who I am today. Raul is as real as it gets, having been through many struggles himself, he is a true leader and advocate in becoming the best version of yourself. His guidance has taught me a level of self-awareness that I did not realize was possible. I am forever thankful and grateful to him and his program.
