Meet Dionne McKnight | Certified Interior Decorator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dionne McKnight and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dionne, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I have a strong passion for interior decor with intention. I knew that I was not the only person whose space effects them in various ways (i.e. emotional & mental). Instead of seeking solutions in other places, I thought “why not me?”. I moved past my fears and decided to create the solution that I was passionate about. That is how I came to create small business, 4 The Love of Decor.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
4 The Love of Décor, LLC exists to create transformed spaces that increase value by forms of style, function, vibes, and custom reflections of the client them self. These four elements represent the ‘4’ in the business name ‘4 The Love of Décor’. The following services offered are: full interior décor service, e-design, home staging, & consultation. This business was created during COVID when people were forced to retreat to their homes more than ever. Our spaces can have effects on our mental and emotional health. I personally struggled with mental & emotional challenges due to my personal space.
I’m proud to present a company that goes beyond services of décor for spaces, but strives to provide an innovative solution to better mental health, emotional health and self-care for clients. That is what sets it apart from others.
I got where I am today with the undoubtedly drive and determination to service others to get past their struggles that start from the inside (including their interior).
My biggest challenge as a small business owner has been moving forward despite my fears. It is not easy. My life has many reasons why being a small business owner would be difficult. I am a spouse of an U.S. Naval pilot, mother of two, a minority, new to the industry, and striving to figure out entrepreneurship. Yet still, I keep moving forward by meeting my fear with positive action.
Along the way, I have learned to immerse yourself into what you’re passionate about and take chances! There is no failure, only lessons.
I want others to know that I strive to assist people beyond paint colors and patterned pillows. I’m after making others happy with their spaces which in turn brings value to their lives by starting on the inside.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family! My husband continues to inspire me to think of functionality in every design. My daughters assist me by bringing my creativity and boldness alive every day. Little do they know, they play a huge part in my drive & success.
