Meet Erin Montgomery | Owner/Operator/ Hairstylist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Erin Montgomery and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Erin, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I had always worked in a big open commission based salon. I think, especially in the beginning, COVID was super scary. I didn’t enjoy the big salon environment anymore. My clients didn’t either. I opened my one room suite in September of 2020 as a way to keep myself and my clients safe. It was a big order of being able to control the controllables.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I think that working in the big salon environment for so many years did help shape my work ethic. It’s not always easy, my phone is basically attached to my hand and I’m always checking messages and moving appointments or coming in on my day off to squeeze someone in. I do it because I love what I do and enjoy making people feel good about themselves.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Probably go to Deep Ellum and go to Adairs for a burger. Head downtown to see the grassy knoll and big eyeball. Maybe go over to Klyde Warren and have lunch at the new Mi Cocina maybe head over to Greenville Ave and go to the Truck Yard for cheesesteaks or Singlewide for cocktails.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to first thank my family they have stood behind me and encouraged me. My clients that without them I wouldn’t be where I am today. The reviews and recommendations do not go unnoticed!
