Meet Angela Rubio | DFW Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Angela Rubio and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Angela, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I was born and raised in Arlington, TX. I grew up with 5 siblings, life was not easy. My childhood was defined by sacrifices, and those sacrifices are what made me who I am today. My parents encouraged us to be independent and work to better ourselves as individuals. From a young age I craved productivity and was eager for personal growth, which led me to earning a business degree and starting my own business.
What should our readers know about your business?
My business specializes in motherhood and family. Maternity sessions are my specialty and my favorite. I provide gown rentals for my mommies and I enjoy photographing all the baby bumps. I believe pregnancy and motherhood is so special and magical. I get emotional just thinking about how my clients allow me into their lives to capture such a beautiful memorable moment in life, it is an honor and a privilege. My goal is to provide a stress free experience for my clients and produce images that they will love and appreciate. Getting to where I am at in my business has not been easy. Financially, there are a lot of costs that come with running a photography business. Transitioning from an introvert to an extrovert because of photography has opened up opportunities and welcomed new friends into my life, but being able to come out of my introverted comfort zone was not easy.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My go-to spot for lunch is pluckers. I’d start there and follow that with something cold to cool us down. My daughters and I enjoy going out for frozen yogurt, ice cream or snow cones. Andys frozen custard, pinkberry and yummilicious are some of our favorites spots. To end the night we would head over to catch a movie at the coyote drive-in theatre.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband has been my biggest supporter. He believed in me and in my business when I did not. Being that I am an introvert, I felt that starting my own business was not for me. Me? Taking pictures of strangers? No way! Having his support has been integral. I can’t thank him enough.
