We had the good fortune of connecting with Averie Simone and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Averie, how do you think about risk?
Before the pandemic a risk was something I thought I couldn’t afford to take. Everything had to be calculated and accounted for to the tee because the fear of the unknown kept me from trying. However once COVID hit and flipped my world upside down I fully adopted the YOLO motto as my motivational saying when doing things that scared me. By doing such I’ve gained and earned opportunities that past me would’ve been too scared to put herself out there for. So I say go for it. YOLO! Do what you can and do it well and hope for the best always!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is the way I share my life and my view on the world with a niche in fashion and style. What sets me apart is the way that I go about my creative process, I’m able to authentically show what I see, am experiencing, and feel in a way that makes people feel included and believe it’s obtainable. It wasn’t easy but I’m glad that I never gave up. The biggest obstacle I’ve had to overcome would have to be getting out of my own way and betting on myself when my imposter syndrome says no. Pushing past the noise and creating what makes me happy and what brings me joy is the hallmark of my brand and the number 1 message I want people to take from me. My best advice is to always be yourself and always do it because you genuinely want to. Once I learned those things my brand started to grow.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh man! I’m all here for a good meal, drinks and vibes! Some of my favorite places to eat are Pangea in Garland, great drinks, AMAZING food, beautiful ambiance. Vidorra for nice Mexican food and vibes or Gloria’s for fire food. I love going to Kylde Warren Park and viewing the city while enjoying the fresh air and vendors out there. And then for chill brunch turned Sunday Funday we can start at Benedict’s in Addison and come back to Deep Ellum and go where the wind blows us!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First all praise and glory goes to God! He’s blessed me with the talent and ability to be here and do so much more than I can imagine and I’m grateful for that. Next I’d thank my parents for always pushing me to be great and never settle for average. And lastly my best friends and supporters, they believe in me when I don’t and constantly pour into and encourage my to live in my full potential when I try to sell myself short. I’m grateful. I’m thankful. And I love y’all all dearly❤️
