We had the good fortune of connecting with Lupe Zamora and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lupe, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?

When I started photography, I wanted to be good at every niche, so that’s exactly what I did. I captured anything requested of me, bought a bunch of props, and offered tons of mini sessions for holidays. I remember getting over 100 inquiries on Facebook marketplace in a day and just being so overwhelmed with it all. I had put too much on my plate. Editing photos was such a disaster having to rush for delivery in a timely manner. I was never impressed with the outcome of my work and was honestly disappointed in myself. Making fast money was great in the beginning but was negative motivation. Photo props were beginning to take away from the purpose of capturing memories. I had forgotten that I was still learning and not focusing on developing the proper skills wasn’t going to benefit me in the long run.

So, I slowed down, did some styled shoots and enjoyed myself for a while before capturing my first wedding. To be successful, you must be comfortable being uncomfortable when trying something new and trust the process. Creating unique content that spoke to me was a new motivation. Doing this helped me realize that capturing two madly in love people gave me the most satisfaction. Finding my true purpose and passion in photography was love at first sight and is the most important factor behind my success. Couples have a love filled with raw emotion and intimacy; it is my job to capture their story to look back at years from now. The excitement I have when a couple is in front of my camera is unexplainable! I might be more excited than they are, but my energy rubs off and helps them feel even more comfortable to be themselves.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a lifestyle & wedding photographer specializing in all things couples! I’m totally ecstatic to be gearing my business more towards weddings and soon, elopements! What sets me apart from other photographers? Not to brag, well, maybe a little to say I always strive to go above and beyond! I do this by setting the expectations high and doing my absolute best to exceed those expectations by planning a stress-free experience. I want my couples to simply have fun when in front of my camera as if I weren’t even there! They deserve to enjoy every moment of their special day to the fullest.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

If my best friend was in town, she knows I’m a very chill and low-key person and not much of a night owl so my itinerary would include good eats, relaxation, shopping and self-care activities! DFW is full of fun! I love to eat, so food is on the top of my list! Although I don’t normally venture out, I’m always down to try out new spots!

Here’s some of my favorites:

-Breakfast at Hubbard’s for a country style meal.

-Lunch at Fisherman’s Kitchen for a delicious seafood platter!

-Dinner with a view or live music downtown is always a good idea & there’s plenty of options.

-Carlo’s Bakery for dessert is the BOMB!

-Indoor cycling and then hot yoga at Lync Cycling and The Yoga Factory are a must to recharge from all the eating! LOL!

-Up next, a full day of relaxation at The Spa at The Joule then MiniLuxe in Uptown is my go-to for a mani/pedi!

-For shopping, I LOVE visiting the Fort Worth Stockyards, Traders Village and Grapevine Mills Mall.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

Having a full-time job, my sessions happen during the weekends and sometimes I book myself up back-to-back. My husband has been my greatest support for the past few years. He holds it down so I can do what I love. Even with all the long hours and nights sacrificed to build my business, he never complains. His encouragement, love and patience has kept me going when I wanted to give up. “One step at a time,” he always says. When he’s able to, he tags along to sessions and gets behind the scenes for me and when my eyes are burning from staring at a gallery for too long, he helps add the final touches. He is really my personal assistant, and I cannot thank him enough! My dream is to have my own studio one day and I know anything is possible with him by my side.

Understanding that the photography industry is constantly changing, you must be willing to invest in yourself and learn to adjust. Esther Truus, my business coach reached out to me late 2021 to join her team and it has been the best decision I’ve ever made for myself. She’s also wedding photographer from Vancouver and her work is incredible. She is truly an amazing educator and wants all her students to win and succeed. I am constantly inspired by her and feel so grateful she saw the potential I didn’t see in myself.
