We had the good fortune of connecting with Riva Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Riva, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind the success of my brand is the community that I’ve built. I’ve helped women cultivated deep change in their lives and as a result our relationship deepens as well. As a coach who has my clients best interest at heart, they feel empowered, motivated, and encouraged going through The Blue Jay Way transformation journey with me! The impact that I’ve made in the lives of many drives me to continue to put in efforts and take risks to make an even greater impact and expand. If no one shows up, community will always show up for you because they have trust and faith in your abilities as a leader. It is my goal to never take that for granted and to uphold them to the changes and challenges we face ahead as we grow TOGETHER.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business began with one on one training sessions and group classes that began at my home gym. Initially I had the support of the community, family, and friends to bring brand awareness and support as a start up. I loved building out HIIT cardio routines to music so that working out felt fun. It wasn’t until I began my online coaching business that I understood the true needs of women in my community. They weren’t in need of a workout or a meal plan, what they needed was more intricate and much deeper. After about a year of helping women lose weight and tone, I’d notice some of them gained the weight back, dropped out of the program, or simply felt defeated.
In this moment I knew that I and my clients have been bamboozled by the industry. The westernized way of a transformation (nutrition and exercise) had become a distraction. With this knowledge, I began to research and develop a framework that I am proud to call The Blue Jay Way which gives clients a space to feel seen and release trauma so that they can create change at the identity level.
This is definitely a learning process for most women as they were never taught emotional intelligence, managing triggers, building self awareness and the many other strategies that my framework affords. It feels comforting as a coach to know that I am walking women through a framework that not only develops their bodies physically but their minds mentally. We they began to get into creator mode and open their minds to the opportunities they have …they end up leveling up in their business and their relationships as well. Not only is this framework impacting the client individually but also everyone attached to them grows through the exposure of this higher energy.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
-Soirée Coffee bar for Brunch and jazz! —The Turkey Hut for drinks and socializing. -Klyde Warren park or AT&T center for events and sight seeing/people watching..
-North Park Mall for shopping

I haven’t been here for a long time but these places never disappoint.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I will always shout out the Blue Jay Gang! Without their trust in me as a leader I would not have been able to grow to the extent that I have. Their dedication to my methods and strategies are inspiring to other entrepreneurs and businesswomen who want to live a healthy lifestyle and create habits that showcase the best version of themselves. And lastly, I can not forget to mention the support of my parents throughout my entire entrepreneurial journey, they have been there for me in so many ways . I’d feel confident in saying I do this for mama! In an attempt that someday I can bless her in a way that recognizes and acknowledges her worth!
