We had the good fortune of connecting with Amy Clemons and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amy, what’s the most important thing you’ve done for your children?
I am a parent of 6 children. I have four biological children, 1 step child, and a foster child. 5 of those children are teenagers. We are a family owned and operated business so everyone in our home plays a role in the business. Running a small business has helped me to teach my children how to learn and grow. They have learned the importance of responsibility, stability, and taking control of their lives. They have had the opportunity to work farmers market stands, meet new people, learn to count money, and cook. Our children have learned that in order to have things in life you must work for them. You have to be dedicated and driven to a goal.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Our business began 6 years ago just selling pies, cookies, jams, and peaches to our local community of Jarrell, TX. We would sit outside on Saturday and Sunday for 12+ hours at a local daycare and sell our products to our neighbors. The more our neighbors requested the more we sold. They would ask us for new products and we would come up with whatever they asked us for. After about 3 years of selling to our neighbors we began to branch out and got into local farmers markets. We then grew from 1-2 local farmers markets to 10-15 farmers markets in a weekend. Our growth has come so quickly that it has been both a blessing and a curse. We struggle at times to keep up with volume and demand. But we have learned that if you just keep going it will always work out in the end.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take her to Waco, TX. Waco has a wonderful and exciting downtown shopping area. We would go to the farmers market and then visit the local shops and visit Cafe Cappuccino on 6th street. I would also be sure that she visits downtown Georgetown, TX. There is a great shopping experience there and a Farmers Market every 2nd Saturday of the Month. We’d definitely visit Gumbos and The Baked Bear.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband, Keddrick Clemons, he is my rock. He is also the co-CEO of Just Peachie Bakery. I could not have done anything without him and his support. Also, our children, they keep us driven and pushing towards success.
