We had the good fortune of connecting with Presleigh Parker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Presleigh, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I am a recent college graduate from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas (hence the name LBKoozie), and I created this business as a way to help support me financially as a full time college student. As a college student, you realize how many times you think, “AH! I wish I brought a koozie!” I really went into the niche of koozies because they are something that a large group of people use frequently, the cost to make is low, and they are easily customizable. I do a lot of bachelorette party koozies, but I have recently made some for some other small businesses which I love. I am now a teacher and this buisness allows me to bring in extra money and I truly enjoy making these koozies. I create the designs and make each koozie by hand, and I love to do it.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am in the art of koozie making. I use vinyl and neoprene koozies to create my product, and it can be tricky! I didn’t start out amazing at it, and it honestly took me about 3 years to be completely confident in my art. I am most proud of the different designs that I create. I typically ask clients to send me an inspiration picture, mood board, or theme so I can use that to help me create a design. I think it’s super cool that I am creating a design that my customers will be happy with and be a part of whatever they are celebrating. The hardest part for me is pricing, a lot of people don’t understand the time and energy that I put into the koozies that I make, as I do make them all by hand. I am finally at a point where I am okay turning away orders where people don’t respect my prices or my time!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I grew up in DFW, and have been to some AMAZING places. Some must tries for breakfast/brunch would be Ida Claire, The Original Pancake House, and The Rustic. For lunch, I would reccomend Bread Zeppelin, Rodeo Goat, and Mexican Sugar! For dinner, my go to is Babe’s Chicken!! It is seriously the best fried chicken in the world and the sides are TO DIE FOR! I would also reccomend the classics like Joe T. Garcia’s and Pluckers. For dessert, you have to get a snow cone from Ice Wizards in Carrollton! They are the best snow cones in the DFW area, and it was actually my first job ever! If I were taking someone somewhere to go have fun, we would defintely go to the Perot Museum, the Fort Worth Stockyards, the Dallas Aquarium, the Truck Yard for some drinks, and the Puttery for some adult put put. There are so many fun and exciting things in the DFW area that it’s so hard to narrow it down to a few!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to thank my friends and family! Thank you for always coming to me with your koozie needs whether it’s for bachelorettes, weddings, family vacations, or graduations! Your support and trust in me helps me continue to grow LBKoozie!
