We had the good fortune of connecting with Laura Botelho and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Laura, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I think the number one factor that makes me and my company successful is the fact that I AM just like my clients. I relate to my clients as I design for them; I am the mom who has to think about function, budget, performance AND style when taking on a design. My mission is to create “style for all lifestyles”, and at least 90% of my clientele have to work within a set budget. So I make it my mission to create their Pinterest dreams and give them a Restoration Hardware look on a HomeGoods budget.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?Laura Botelho Interiors is a full service interior design firm located in Frisco, TX that offers interior design, virtual interior design, home staging and professional organizing.

My goal is always to create interiors that are beautiful, inspirational and functional, all while staying within my client’s budget. I work collaboratively with my clients to make sure that the interiors of their homes reflect their personal style and feel elegant, timeless and made for everyday life. I take a very personal approach with my clients to really understand their budget and practical needs for each project, while still making their Pinterest dreams come true — from one room to an entire house.

My passion for design stems from my love of travel, cultures and architecture, and I pull a lot of my inspiration from the cities and countries I’ve lived in and visited.

I’m originally from Houston, and I’m the daughter to Cuban and Mexican immigrants, wife to a Brazilian man, and I speak English, Spanish and Portuguese fluently. I’m also a mom to two beautiful kiddos, which also makes me “keep it real” and inspires me to create spaces that are not only aesthetically stylish and beautiful, but also practical, within budget and family-friendly.

I started my business a year after my daughter was born. I was actually in the corporate world working as a Communications Director at a Fortune 300 company that had me traveling 40%-50% of my time. Although I loved my fast-paced job, I felt like I was using zero percent of my creativity and ignoring my passion in life. I also felt like my 24/7 corporate job was no longer conducive with my new life as a mom, so I took a leap of faith and started my own business doing what I love…interior design. I have spent the past 7 years educating myself and perfecting my approach to business. Today I love what I do and don’t regret my decision to start this business adventure AT ALL.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

I love a good travel itinerary! When people come to visit, I usually stick to these places and things to see and do.

Places to visit:
The Star, Legacy West, The PGA District in Frisco, The Arboretum, Perot Museum, The 6th Floor Museum, Shopping at the Northpark Center. If it’s a family with kids, we tend to take them to a lot of parks like Klyde Warren Park, Frisco Commons Park, Windhaven Meadows Park and Limestone Quarry Park.

Places to Dine in the Daytime:
Dallas Farmers Market, Katy Trail Ice House on a nice day to enjoy the walk on the trail, Cane Rosso at The Star, North Italia at Legacy West.

Places to Dine in the evening for date nights:
Bulla (Legacy West), Kai (Legacy West), Snowbird, The Henry, Maison Chinois, Komodo Sushi, The Mexican, and Ciccio Trattoria in McKinney. And my favorite place to get an amazing meal is Lavendou Bistro. It’s an amazing French restaurant in north Dallas that’s been around for years. It that makes you feel like you’re in a small restaurant in Paris, and I’ve never had a less than amazing meal there.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I dedicate my success to my husband. Without his support, encouragement and hard work, I wouldn’t have had the time to dedicate to my business and make it grow. I’m a mom first, so I have 2 full time jobs. When my husband is home after work or on weekends, he takes over and solo parents so that I can answer emails, visit clients, work on projects and grow my business. It really takes a village to do it all!
