Working hard or hardly working?

What’s the right balance between work and non-work time? The traditional 9-5 has slowly disappeared with the emails and zoom and texting going far beyond traditional business hours. We asked members of our community to share with us how they think about work-life balance.

For a long time I resented my kids because I had this perspective that they were slowing me down in my career or the amount of hours I could work to earn money. But one day I was sitting around dreaming of traveling to Italy again and thinking about their slow way of life and how the majority of the people I’ve ever met their live very minimal lives in small homes, but they ALWAYS have time to linger and enjoy a cappucino or a glass of wine and conversation. My balance has changed tremendously. I remember being younger and having more time to slack and hang out. Now I’m adulting! I’m in school for nursing, I work full time in the ICU and I’m my own boss. So it’s been hard finding a balance between work, school, self care and having a social life. Read more>>

When I first started flipping furniture, any free moment that I had, I was out in the garage. Between homeschooling and having four children under 9, with activities and just running a household, it became too much! I have since put some specific times in place that are dedicated to flipping furniture and that has helped me create a better balance within our family! Read more>>

Business ownership, like life, is rarely predicable and will challenge you in ways you could never foresee. It’s a never-ending pursuit; an everlasting experiment. Time and money are equally valuable. That’s where the balance is. Time doesn’t get enough perceived value because we, as a society, are trapped in a race against time.I’ve learned it’s important to enjoy special moments and cherish calm moments instead of always working toward a new accomplishment.
