I’ve always been drawn to filmmaking as a medium since high school. I remember freshman year, my English teacher gave us options as to how to present a report on Romeo and Juliet, like powerpoint, song, performance, essay, and a video. I thought to myself, “Video! Why would I choose any of those other options?” and that began my fascination with the format.

I was lucky enough to be raised by women who each found success in creative careers themselves. I guess you could say it really does run in the family! I have always looked up to my mother and grandmothers. My creative practice has been largely shaped by the passion they’ve shared by running a small business or rising to leadership roles in the areas of portrait photography, art education, event, floral, and interior design. Though it may be like beating a dead horse, I decided to pursue music because like many creatives, there is simply nothing else I would be able to do. I have and always will be drawn to the powers of music. I feel that a common misconception is that music is an impossible and solely difficult career to pursue, but the truth is that you don’t have to be a famous star to have a fruitful career in music. I began pursuing a creative career the day I “quit” my office job. I loved being creative since as long as I could remember, but never had once attempted to share my artistry with anyone. I think one day, I got tired of always wondering “what if”, and realized life doesn’t have to be that way. As a kid, I was always around music, my father is a record promoter so he would often bring me on the job. That meant a lot of concerts, radio station tours, and seeing behind the scenes of everything an artist does. I never thought much of it until one of the artists had rented a cajón for their set and it was kept at my house, I started playing that and singing. Yes, a cajón started my musical journey. My dad bought me a drum set, I started doing gigs and never looked back. Now I am in school for audio engineering and enjoying everything this career has to offer, almost ten years later.
