I found joy and solace in creativity at a pretty young age and my family has always nurtured that passion in me. When I was little, I’d take whatever supplies I could find- leftover paper scraps, rocks, sticks, Scotch tape- and craft with them. When I began to learn musical instruments, creativity took on a whole new form. I fell in love with making music more than any other creative trade, and taking part in music lessons and classes helped me to find friendships and community throughout school. There’s this quote by Gabrielle Roth, the creator of 5Rhythms dance practice that says, “In many shamanic societies, if you came to a medicine person complaining of being disheartened, dispirited, or depressed, they would ask one of four questions: “When did you stop dancing? When did you stop singing?
When did you stop being enchanted by stories? When did you become terrified by the territory of silence?” The fascination with these questions has inspired the study and teaching of ways expression and meditative practices can become a medicinal salves to the human condition. Read more>>

I pursued an artistic career because more than just being a braider I am an artist . Without being an artist in the beauty industry (braiding specifically) you’d definitely be stuck doing basic styles . Granted there’s nothing wrong with that I believe that most women that join the braiding industry are artist . We find out as we introduce different styles to our audience . We’ve literally added art to the styles . Hearts , stars , squares , one of my most favorite zig zags . So I joined a creative industry honestly to express creativity .
