So my journey began back in 2012 with a young man named Mr. Raekwon Stafford (God Bless The Dead) who said, “Yo, Mr. Fleming III, who’s this MLK dude I keep hearing about, and is he from Canada? At that exact moment, I knew I needed to devise a way to make learning ANY kind of information fun so that the people on the receiving end would be engaged and retain the information. I went through several different iterations and pivots over the last 12 years. It started with a non-profit that was formed to teach Black History in the performing arts space. We try different restaurants and travel every now and then, when we do people would ask our opinion about different places around the city or what we thought about this or that location as well as things to do when we would travel. Also, every now and again people would ask Jessica about different recipes or dishes she made. So, Jessica thought maybe it would be cool to start a Youtube channel based on food reviews, new recipes, traveling, and etc. Pretty much giving you a glimpse into our life in general. This led to the channel being titled “It’s a Phillips Thang”, because of course we’re married and our last name is Phillips. Read more>>

What’s more fun than shopping for yourself? Shopping for your kids! When my son was born 4 years ago, I discovered a new world of children’s fashion. Retail and fashion were not new to me, as I began my career here in Dallas as an Assistant Buyer for Neiman Marcus and later worked for Lafayette 148, Theory and Helmut Lang in NYC. My family and I were living in NYC, and even with every children’s brand imaginable only a block or two away, I still felt like something was missing from my son’s wardrobe.
