Reflecting on the things that made a difference

We asked some of the city’s rising stars to reflect on what made a difference in their journey. We asked them to tell us about what they think the most important factor has been behind their success.
My personality is quite action oriented, which has always helped me embrace challenges as opportunities and figure out creative solutions to problems. I possess a knack for innovation and always try to nurture a mentality that goes beyond the obvious to really push boundaries and think outside the box. I have tried to do this as much as possible for all organizations I have supported. Before joining Dallas Contemporary, I was the Director of External Affairs at Creative Time, where I drew on my communications background to innovate development strategies, which resulted in greater cross-pollination across departments and collaborations across disciplines. Honestly being disciplined. I don’t cut things short and find excuses if it’s something that I want to achieve. I’m big into fitness as well and keep myself going to bed and waking up around the same times to keep myself on a set schedule. I meal prep and all that too. Being disciplined in other important aspects of my life keep me grounded in my career and help me not have a quiter’s attitude. We all go through spurts of ‘I don’t feel like doing this’ but holding myself accountable for so long helps push me through that mental block. Read more>>
