We had the good fortune of connecting with Yolanda Stevenson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Yolanda, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My personal need for this type of service. I figured that I wasn’t the only parent needing this service.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Taxi Mom is a private transportation company providing exceptional service to families around our communities. We transport children to and from home and school, tutoring facilities, karate classes, swim lessons, dance classes, P.E. credit classes outside of the school, and much more. Our core business focuses on the safety of the student to ensure peace of mind to our working families. Our vans are wrapped with our logos and our drivers wear a uniform each day. Families that register online will receive an invitation with a formal quote, they can decline or accept the quote. If they accept the quote, they get access into our parent portal to set up their payment method. They also have the ability to see the assigned driver with the assigned vehicle, they have access to changing their schedule, and adding additional passengers. We are extremely excited to be nearing the launch of our new mobile app. which will include the same features above in our parent portal but we are adding tracking and notifications. Business-wise, it hasn’t always been easy. I’ve always had a vision and understanding of what I wanted but it takes a lot of patience, determination, will, faith, and failure. I read, I learn, and I adapt. I can’t dwell on the mistakes that I’ve made along the way but I’ve definitely learned from them and moved on. Transparency is key! Treating people with respect and honesty is the only way I know. Taxi Mom has been in business since 2004 servicing over thousands of families throughout the years. I am proud to announce that I am now selling franchises. It is my ultimate goal to help others build a successful business. Our platform has been designed to let the business work for you and I am excited to share my experiences while teaching others how to design their own lives by including their families.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’ve been in Dallas since 1988 but a Richardson resident since 1994 and there are so many places! I absolutely love the city of Dallas! I love downtown Dallas. They have so much to offer but I also love my hometown of Richardson. A glimpse of my week itinerary – meditations with nature walks at the Spring Creek Nature Area Trail, breakfast at First Watch in Richardson, Northpark mall for a little shopping excursion, lunch at Bazille’s, a trip to the art museum in Dallas, people watching at the following: Klyde Warren Park, Bishop Arts District, Deep Ellum, Downtown Plano, Downtown McKinney, a spa day at Grand Spa in Addison, and topped off with a little dinner and live music at Texas to end the long week!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, God, all of my family but especially my dad, mom, sister Rose, my husband Joe, and my three kids (Josh, Jake, and Priscilla), my local SCORE (Dallas location), my employees, my partners (franchisee’s), the families that have used us in the past, and our current families using our services. Our employee’s play a vital role in who we are and our commitment to our families. They are the backbone to our company and I am greatly appreciative for each of them!
