Meet Yanina / Alex | Sr. Partners

We had the good fortune of connecting with Yanina / Alex and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Yanina / Alex, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Abode Homemade Events is about celebrating your home! We wanted to offer services that were all encompassing for the home. Beginning with our name Abode (which means home) to our logo with its cheery chimney stack. From full service interior design and home staging to home event services for our clients, we want to be the go to phone call for all things home.
For example, for the client who is looking to freshen up their home, we can provide space planning, color selection and installation. Then once the home has fresh color or furniture- and it’s time to host friends, we offer themed house warmings, food bars, or even full on events such as bridal brunches, baby showers or birthday celebrations. We create floor plans, event layouts, themes, invitations, décor and menus. No budget is too small!

What should our readers know about your business?
We have a love for all things home, cooking, gardening and entertaining at home. We have been entertaining with and for family and friends for a very long time- Throwing birthday parties, weddings and showers for years. We nalways been told “we should do events for people.”
Then the pandemic hit, “the world shut down” and it became even more important to help people celebrate at home, tada!, Abode was born! Our business revolves around home and family. You don’t have to spend thousands of dollars to have a great event. We work with small budgets, big budgets and everywhere in between.
Most fulfilling is helping people realize they can do this! They can have great events at home, and that is what makes us unique!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Day 1 catching up with drinks and dinner at our favorite watering hole Roman Cucina for Bada Bings and plates of pasta Giani!
Day 2 Breakfast Migas from our Kitchen and then an afternoon movie with Great Dame cocktails, chips and queso at Alamo Drafthouse!
Day 3 Antiquing and the tea sandwich sampler at Chocolate Angel Tearoom!
Day 4 Shopping at NorthPark Mall, shrimp tacos, cilantro lime rice and margaritas at home!
Day 5 a Weird Science movie farewell at home with southwest Cobb salads and CBR (chicken bacon ranch) pizzas from Heritage pizza!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
To Mom/Buela, who has always been an inspiration to all things home.
