We had the good fortune of connecting with Whitney Daniels and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Whitney, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started Gather + Gab out of a desire to see women have a fun avenue to cultivate their closest relationships: romantic, friendship and parenting. I have always been a lover of hosting and throwing parties but, like everyone else, covid lockdowns forced me to rethink the many ways gatherings can look. For me, the ambiance of the table setting, good food and great conversation are keys to a memorable time. With those elements at the forefront of my mind, I set out to create Gather + Gab, a luxury and pop-up picnic business. I have packages that are great for romantic date nights or fun with friends and also a crafting package that’s perfect to do with kids. It’s important to me that my clients are able to fully relax and enjoy their time so I do all the heavy lifting from picnic design, set up and tear down! Each package includes charcuterie to enjoy and curated conversations starters to build community. If you’re looking to spend time with your nearest and dearest, you truly can’t go wrong with any package! We also have pop-ups around town that are perfect for new transplants to the area and an easy way to make new friends. I’m so excited about all the things we’re planning for the coming year!
What should our readers know about your business?
Gather + Gab is a luxury picnic business serving the DFW metroplex. Our brand is for the fun-loving girl who adores her community and is intentional with pouring into the people closest to her. Intentionality sets us apart from the rest. Every event we plan is done with the end goal of having our clients feel cared for and connected. We pray that established relationships grow even stronger and that new relationships blossom from the gatherings we create. This upcoming year, we’re so excited about the pop-up picnics we have planned around the DFW metroplex. They will be a great opportunity for women to meet others living in their city and awesome for newbies to Dallas. We’re super excited to bring some fun events to the area in the upcoming year and can’t wait to meet some new faces.!
At Gather + Gab, we provide thoughtfully designed picnics catered to women who want to cultivate and enjoy the relationships closest to them. We have 3 primary package offerings: Wine Down, Brunch Babes, and Mommy & Me. Our Wine Down picnic is a fun wine-tasting experience that includes delicious cheese pairings and charcuterie; perfect for date night! Our Brunch Babes picnic is ideal for a girlfriends day out and includes a yummy brunch board and Mimosas to share. The Mommy & Me package is for the mama who wants to give a little extra TLC to her babe and includes fun crafts and activities. We’ve also partnered with an amazing local business to include conversation starters with each picnic so you’ll not only have a blast spending time together, but you’ll leave feeling more connected to your community!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I grew up in Fairview so I’m very partial to Downtown McKinney. It has always been a place near and dear to my heart and I still love to hang out there on a rare free day. If my bestie was in town, first, we’d stop by Layered Cafe for a latte and breakfast. The Nutella latte is so good! Then we’d head over to Chestnut Square. One of my absolute favorite things to go do in McKinney is the Chestnut Square home tour. I love Christmas and their Christmas tour does not disappoint! It’s so fun to see the historic homes decked out for the holidays! After finishing up the tour, we’d get lunch at Patina Green followed by a little shopping at Birds and Words, Antique Company Mall and Joss + J. We’d then end the day with a relaxing massage at Pavitra and cocktails at The Yard. Seriously sounds like the perfect day!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I couldn’t do any of this without my husband Robert. He has supported my dream and vision from the very beginning. He continues to listen to my wild ideas, and gives me advice on everything from social media to pop-up ideas. I also have tremendous support in my closest friends. They genuinely want to see me succeed and give me the confidence to keep moving forward even if I’m uncertain about my next move. They are some of the biggest cheerleaders in my corner. And of course my family! My mom especially has encouraged me to start Gather + Gab for longer than I can remember and is constantly sending me words of affirmation and encouragement. So grateful for my tribe!
