We had the good fortune of connecting with Victor Entropy and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Victor, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I wanted a way to be able to showcase the art and talents of both myself and my community. As a trans masc person with a wide variety of very talented friends, there’s not a lot of spaces where I see us represented. I strive to make sure people of all sizes and abilities have access to costumes that make them feel good about themselves, and fits how they want, as well as events to show them off at. I’m also currently working on setting up Drag, Burlesque, and variety shows where the whole cast feels appreciated and safe, and you’re not seeing the same homogeneous cast over and over again. It’s been rough to try and dig out these spaces, because everything has a price tag, but it’s worth it to feel the excitement and joy from everyone. Drag and Burlesque are for everybody, and there’s no need to try to cram yourself into someone else’s mold, whether that’s to be on stage or just have a garment that fits right.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
In addition to working full time at my day job, I spend a lot of time designing and altering costumes for myself and local performers, as well as driving to and from shows all over Texas. I’ve also been spending a lot of time recently working on designs for my RedBubble -which can be found linked on my website- and trying to arrange more shows around DFW for next year. I’m always working on a new project, and brainstorming about a dozen more for the future.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Sue Ellen’s out in Dallas is always amazing for late nights. The drinks are great, and the people are friendly.
For movies, the Inwood and the Texas Theatre are always my go-to. History theatres just feel different from chains in ways I can’t explain.
For other events, the Ridglea out in Fort Worth has so many different spaces to choose from, and the talents that end up there are stellar.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Los Bastardos DFW Rocky Horror shadowcast, and Taste the Tease/the Liqueurs have both helped me immensely.
