We had the good fortune of connecting with Vanessa Chinopoulou-McCoy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Vanessa, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Having lived in Europe, Dubai, and the USA, my background in branding, marketing, and investor relations for multi-billion-dollar global companies has equipped me with invaluable skills. However, the desire to pursue my entrepreneurial dream persisted. The absence of Greek fruit spoon sweets – vegan, gluten-free, and preservative-free delicacies – in the market presented an enticing opportunity. Thus, the idea to introduce these authentic Greek delights emerged.

Our thought process revolves around bridging cultures through cuisine. I envision bringing the essence of the Greek garden to every table, offering not just a product but an experience deeply rooted in tradition and nourishment. These organic fruit spoon sweets symbolize more than just food; they embody a legacy passed down through generations, a testament to the rich tapestry of Greek culinary heritage.

The journey to entrepreneurship is driven by a passion for authenticity and a commitment to quality. It’s about sharing a piece of my heritage with the world while satisfying a market need for wholesome, natural products. Through strategic branding and marketing, I aim to carve a niche for these fruit spoon sweets, fostering a connection between consumers and the Greek culture they represent. This venture represents not only a business opportunity but a fulfillment of a lifelong aspiration to create something meaningful and enduring.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Nostimo (no-sti-mo) is a Greek word translated to ‘delicious’. It perfectly reflects it’s “highly pleasant to the taste” description. The origin of the word comes from the ancient Greek word “nostos” meaning ‘returning to something I desire’.
Fruit Spoon Sweets often served as a gesture of warmth and kindness. With their diverse palette of tastes and textures, they offer a delightful way to experience different fruits, adding a touch of a Mediterranean culinary adventure to any meal or occasion.
At Nostimo Texas, nostimotx.com, we are passionate about delivering an authentic taste of Greece, with each delicious ‘fruit spoon sweet’ crafted by hand and infused with love. Our commitment to quality ingredients and traditional recipes reflects our dedication to sharing the true essence of Greek nourishment. If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When I have friends visiting from Greece or another state, my itinerary is typically made weeks in advance, as I’m quite an impatient gal (lol). Dallas exudes diversity and excitement with its vibrant culture and plethora of activities. My agenda is the exception to the rule; it’s a one-size-fits-all experience! First, we visit the Giant Eyeball and the JFK Memorial, where we pretend to be part of the tour groups and listen to the guide. Then, we stroll to the Thanksgiving Chapel, which I find architecturally and interior-wise, very unique. Watching the sunset at the Rockwall Harbor is a must, and during summer months, we catch the Thursday Rockwall Live Concert by the lake. For a relaxing evening and some shopping, my preference is the Highland Park Village, where we also stroll around the neighborhood, admiring some of the houses.
However, the ultimate experience is at home, where my husband Ryan and I showcase our culinary skills with the best traditional Greek food, making every meal a memorable one for our guests.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
In my journey, I’ve been blessed with exceptional men and women who have shaped my path. It began with my parents, who offered unconditional love and support. During my time in WTA, my tennis and mental strength coaches, and later with my martial arts spiritual teachers, played crucial roles in shaping my character and ambitions.
Transitioning to Dubai, where i lived for 8 years, while working with Accor, one of the biggest hospitality groups in the world, Mr. Nishan Silva, my reporting line and the Cluster General Manager, became a pivotal influence. His guidance fostered a mindset of attention to detail and instilled unshakeable self-belief.
However, the most significant influence, emotionally, spiritually, and mentally, was my godmother, Eirini, in Athens, whose intellect and continued encouragement left an indelible mark. Her lessons on embracing life’s beauty and pursuing aspirations resonate deeply.
Presently, my greatest support in striving to become the best version of myself is my husband, Ryan. Our love story inspires me, and his support contributes to my achievements while cultivating my desire for a balanced and loving life. To these remarkable individuals, I owe my success, underscoring the profound importance of mentorship in life’s journey.
