We had the good fortune of connecting with Trey Seofon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Trey, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Starting Admonish was started with the idea that it would be fun. If it ever started to be a pain or was not fun, we wouldn’t do it anymore.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We make leather goods in Dallas, Texas. We have been doing this for about 10 years. I don’t have any formal training or design education, but I have managed to sell my goods in some of the more reputable shops in Austin and Dallas. I have learned to make what I want to make and not listen to others. Early on people would say I should make something like x and I would do it. As I became more experienced, I have learned that my best work comes from blocking out the noise and making it my own.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The arts district in Dallas is really great there are plenty of museums to check out, but I especially enjoy the Nasher sculpture center. The Bishop arts district is great for shopping and food and is super chill. Can’t go wrong there.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My parents have always been super creative. They taught me to look at projects from different approaches and avoid being hellbent in doing something one way.
