Meet Travis Reed | Owner/Operator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Travis Reed and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Travis, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process? That’s a good one. Not sure if I can put it all down. I worked at a local high end car dealership for 14 years. Gave my life to that place. Working 40-60 hours a week, sometimes every other weekend. I chose to take time away from my family for them, and I feel it was all for nothing. It just seemed that they needed to make more money, charge more money, and I never made any more money. It was sell all this stuff that I don’t believe is good for the client, but because I had to. All these dealerships have Excel sheets of what everyone has sold and how much of it. It’s green for good, yellow for needs more, and red for falling under what we should be doing. These dealerships are selling more than what is needed on peoples cars. That is the high end and the entry level dealers. It’s all about the bottom dollar at the end of the day and a survey. I want to provide the client with what is needed, and that’s it.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart from the rest? I want to grow my business and at the same time keep everything at a cost effecient product. My client’s are my business. I want to build relationships for the long haul. If I am still up and running 20 years from now, I want my client’s who believed in me from the the beginning.
I am only a year in and sometimes there are days that I do not have work. It’s very tough. One of the greatest challenges, is getting new client’s to give me a shot. I understand how they feel. We all like new things, but somethings are outside of our normal comfort zone. I just ask that you give me one shot to make a first impression.
I want the world to know that I am trying to get vehicle service back to normal and you don’t need all that extra stuff all the auto shops are selling. Stick with what’s in the owners manual and you should be good.
I also want the world to know, that these high end dealers are selling you the same things for a higher price just based off the badge on the car. There are so many independent shops out there that need you and your business.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
One of the first things we would do is go to the stockyards on a Sunday. They have line dancing classes at Billy Bobs. It is so much fun. We love going to Grapevine on Mainstreet. So many cool little shops and soo much good food. Mister O1 Extraordinary Pizza Grapevine is soo good. Entertainment wise, we like to go out to Keller. There are a few good places that have live music which is the best. Keller Tavern, Roanoke live, The Pour Shack, Shotzees bar and grill. And of course, we will need to support our local teams. Mavericks, Stars, and Rangers.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First credit goes out to God. I believe nothing is possible without HIM. I try my best to live my life by HIS rules. To love my neighbor (client) as Christ has loved us. Second goes out to Sara Harris. She has supported me in all the ways. She reads all my post and corrects my grammer, LOL. Sara also made all my signage and flyers. She is amazing in all the ways. Most importantly, she is supportive.
I’d also like to shout out to my Aunt Betty and Uncle Gene. They provided me with the vehicle that I am working out of. This vehicle has made it so that I do not have to go out and get a loan.
