We had the good fortune of connecting with Tosha Lacy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tosha, the decisions we make often shape our story in profound ways. What was one of the most difficult decisions you’ve had to make?
The most difficult decision I’ve had to make was getting out of my own way and pursuing my dreams and goals of starting something for myself. It is never easy stepping into the unknown and starting something new. You never know what is waiting outside of your comfort zone but you have to make a step to explore it. Outside of your comfort zone is where you truly begin to live.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a LVN and work in the Home Health field. I have been a nurse for the past 11 years and I love it. When I was little, I remember taking care of my father while he was in the hospital at the age of 10 and realizing that is what I wanted to do. I started nursing school shortly after the passing of my mother and I haven’t looked back. I started as a Certified Nurse Assistant and transited to a Phlebotomist, Medical Assistant, now to nursing. The growth in my profession wasn’t easy but it was worth it. My daughters were small when I was in nursing school so balancing motherhood, studying, tests, and clinicals was challenging but I had a lot of help and support. The lessons I’ve learned along the way is that I can’t do everything myself and it’s very important to have a team in place to become more efficient and having more time to focus on other parts of starting a business or a new career. I want the world to know that I am my brand. Everyday I strive to become greater in my craft and create products for my customers and private label clients they can be proud to share with others or just enjoy in whatever setting they are in.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This is a hard choice because there are so many exciting places and things to do. If I had to choose, I would choose Atlanta, GA for the week. We would definitely explore the city and surrounding areas. A few of the restaurants Old Lady Gang Southern Cuisine, K&K Soul Food, Who’s Got Soul, and Slutty Vegan just to name a few. We would definitely visit the Historic attractions of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr, Museums, and other local attractions, botanical gardens. We would also visit all the hottest shopping places in the city. We couldn’t end the trip without enjoying the nightlife without visiting Escobar Restaurant and Tapas and The Sound Bar.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to dedicate this shoutout to my family/friends, and mentor. My family/friends because they have always and continue to support me and keep me encouraged. They have adopted my vision, they are always eager to help, and are my biggest supporters, marketers, and customers. My family/friends continue to be the foundation I need to push forward in growing and expanding to reach my goals. My candle mentor, Kim Braud, Owner of Fleurty Wicks Brand, is absolutely amazing. She took the time to pour her knowledge of the candle world into me and continues to be there when I need her. With a solid support team as the one I have been blessed with, they deserve to be recognized and celebrated.
