We had the good fortune of connecting with Theeany Shannon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Theeany, what is the most important factor behind your success?
My relationship with God because He gave me the “Yes Theory”: for the entire year of 2022 God challenged me to take the limitations off of myself and my brand. He challenged me to say “yes” to every opportunity or obstacle that was in front of me. For example: If I was asked for a business lunch meeting, I said “yes”, or to take a booking engagement, I said “yes”. This dynamic caused me to show up to every opportunity as my authentic self , and pushed me to do traditionally uncomfortable things. Saying “yes “ set me up for major advancements in 2023. I was featured in Dallas Weekly, and on 97.9 fm radio. A new facet to my brand was birthed to provide professional media services as “Thee the Emcee” and have garnered more attention to my social media series “Dating in Dallas”. It all started when God challenged me to say “ YES”.
What should our readers know about your business?
I am my brand. Under the umbrella of my brand are: Dating in Dallas- social media series, where I discuss dynamics of dating, relationships, and my experiences dating in the Dallas Metroplex. I cover complex topics like trauma bonding, dating after divorce, or the role of submission and leadership in relationships. I go live every Tuesday 8:30pmCST on Instagram under my IG handle @datingindallas_theeany
Finding Your Voice- This is my coaching practice. I have a certification as a cognitive behavioral life coach practitioner. I help my clients challenge current self-destructive thought patterns and develop positive thought pathways through coaching and supportive counseling. I also offer coaching groups for specific populations like survivors of domestic violence , and women of color.
Thee the Emcee- is my business persona where I offer professional media services like event hosting, red carpet interviews, panel discussion host, actors studio interviews, product/ food reviews for branding and guest speaking.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them on a massage chair bus tour around downtown Dallas. I would also do the beignet crawl which is a curated tour of pastry shops that serve beignets and adult beverages. I would travel to Deep Ellum and take in local music and good food at Bucky Moonshines or The Freeman Cajun Cafe. I would then take her to “Tha Spot DTX “ for a paint and sip curated experience. Then, I would make reservations for a relaxing 90 min scalp treatment at The Head Spa.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Personally I have to give credit to my mother, Clarissa Samuel and my family. They’re unwavering support and love gives me strength to go and take up space, and challenge current culture. My family is home and my soft place to fall.
Other people that have provided massive support and love are Jessica Washington, CEO of Dallas Weekly, Nasia Smith-strategist and solutions architect, and Karlyn Morrison ( K Mo) of Black Girls of Texas. These ladies have truly given me sisterhood. We love each other, support each other’s dreams and hold one another accountable to our respective goals. With them I can truly be myself, and I am loved.
