Meet Teri Carlo | 500 Hour Yoga Instructor, Meditation Teacher & Sound Alchemist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Teri Carlo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Teri, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
Authenticity!
Going through life, taking on jobs to “make a buck” and always feeling in survival mode is no way to live. After finding Yoga about 15 years ago, I began a journey of uncovering my own authentic self! Feeling better in my own skin, surrounding myself with people I could truly vibe with and only saying “YES” to things that resonated with my soul, started becoming my new way of life. AND, that really became apparent after being diagnosed with an extremely rare autoimmune disorder called EGPA, or Eosinophilic Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis. This disease literally took my physical body to my knees, resulting in 2 years of discomfort, rehabilitation to regain my ability to walk, 6 rounds of chemotherapy, implantation of a pacemaker/defibrillator for chronic heart failure due to the condition and LOTS of mindfulness practices and yoga.
I knew after experiencing this, that I ONLY wanted to live my best, most authentic life!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
After bouncing back, I was determined to only engage in that which fed my soul. That was the beginning of Time Out Yoga, Meditation and Sound Alchemy. I moved to a new town, started teaching in new studios, facilitating sound baths, and the most fun was creating the Nurture in Nature Women’s Wellness Retreats.
Holding 3 Sold-Out Retreats in 2024, we are so excited to be expanding to an anticipated 7 retreats in 2025! Showing up as my best, authentic self resulted in a flow of ease where everything just organically happened. Anything that Time Out Yoga is a part of, is led by love and is a container for everyone else to show up as THEIR best, authentic self! We are known for holding space where guests/clients can relax, be themselves, connect with others, heal their hearts and grow towards their own highest potential.
The moment that my ego pops up and I act in a non-authentic way, things cease to flow or I meet much resistance, and I am quickly reminded to tune back into my true spirit,
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This may sound a little boring, but we host our retreats at Best Day Every Ranch in Whitewright, TX. This is a hidden gem of a venue that has 8 miles of hiking/biking trails, a beautiful pool, lovely accomodations and an amazing staff. The meals are all prepared by my brother, Don Snekvik, amatuer chef extraordinaire! After a weekend at the retreat, I would take them lunch at Koji Sushi in McKinney, Texas off the square and then drive to Arbor Hills Nature Preserve in Plano, Texas for a nice walk!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I could not have gotten through without the support of my employer at the time, All Community Outreach, and their employees donating Personal Time Off hours, as well as the volunteers that I managed at this amazing non-profit organization. My husband, family and friends were especially supportive, with a special shout-out to my daughter, Mikenzie, a Nurse Practitioner, who cared for me during this time.
My ability to bounce back due to mindfulness practices and doing daily yoga was key! Starting with simple stretching in bed, and progressing as my body would allow, I am now able to practice AND teach again.
