We had the good fortune of connecting with Teri Allen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Teri, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
Cooking and baking. When I’m in the kitchen, I get excited to make it and taste it, but I also can’t wait for someone else to try it. The look on their face when I present it, and then the sounds they make if they really enjoy it makes me giddy.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I have a shop in HIstoric Downtown Wylie where I am partnered with 3 other local businesses. It features my bakery, Baked Right In, Hannah Mae Boutique, and Jerky Jim’s Premium Beef Jerky. Our 3 businesses own the shop, and we currently have 3 other local vendors that sell their products thru the shop. We like to provide a little bit of everything for our customers.
I started out working in retail Cosmetics throughout my 20’s and eventually landed in the permanent fixture/display industry for the next 20 years. I had always loved baking, so when I was laid off in 2020, I decided to try my hand at selling the things I had been making and giving away for free. It went pretty well so I started doing some local events as well. In January of 2022, I started participating in a monthly vendor fair at Southfork Ranch. That is where I met my current partners. They had been looking for retail space, so we all decided to find one together. About a month after we started looking, we were lucky enough to find one in our dream location. After putting in a full kitchen, and some cosmetic upgrades. we were able to open in two months.
Since then, I have been able to expand my business to include some light catering. I have been able to cater breakfasts and lunches for some of the local clubs and groups. Going forward, I plan to start offering family meals to go
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Steve, my life partner. He has encouraged and supported me more than I ever could have imagined. Not only is he there with words, comfort and love, he will wash dishes and build me anything I need! My dad, Mike Cloud and my brother, JT Allen, who always have my back and are there whenever I need them.
The many, many friends and family who show up at events, order from me, or spread the word thru contacts and social media.
Last, but certainly not least, my mother Ruth Ann Cloud and my Nan Nan, Elaine Starr. They could not be here with me for this part of my life, but they always said they believed I could do anything.
