We had the good fortune of connecting with Tanisha Edwards and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tanisha, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success after being homeless is undoubtedly my unwavering faith in God. Throughout my journey, I have faced numerous challenges, including 3 years of homelessness, relocation, and the loss of loved ones. However it is my faith that has been my guiding light and the source of strength overcome these obstacles.

In 2014 I was blessed with the opportunity to be reunited with my father after a long separation. Sadly his mental health deteriorated due to severe PTSD and the traumas he experienced as a former Army Sergeant during the the Vietnam War. In 2021 he passed away , leaving behind a legacy of struggle and resilience.

During this difficult period, I turned to God for comfort and guidance. It was through prayer and leaning on my faith that I found solace and the inner strength to persevere. In 2022 I was reunited with my mother, a divine blessing orchestrated by God himself.

However the joy of our reunion was short lived as she battled and succumbed to kidney cancer in July 2023

In honor of my parents memory, I decided to establish two Nonprofit Organization:
Edwards Housing Incorporated dedicated to providing housing assistance, rental assistance, employment, transportation and other services and resources to all populations in memory of my father

And SAFE Foundation Inc. ( Sisters Accountable For Each Other ) this organization is committed to ministering to the ones in need, supporting hospital bills, medicines and lodging for our individuals that have kidney cancer in memory of my mother

In addition to these Nonprofits I have taken on various initiatives such as my husband and I owning Several Transitional Houses , Clia Lab, Several HCS Homes, and GRO Home. Im also a Commercial Loan Officer and a Real Estate Investor as well

So while there are certainty other contributing factors to my success such as hard work and dedication, it is my faith in God that remains the most important factor behind my accomplishments. It is through his grace and blessings that I am able to continue moving forward, finding purpose in serving others, and striving to make a positive impact on the world around me.

What sets me apart is my unique combination of personal experiences, resilience and unwavering faith.

Having endured 3 years of homelessness and the challenges that come with it, you possess a deep understanding of the struggles faced by marginalized individuals. This firsthand experience has shaped my perspective and gives me a compassionate and empathetic approach to helping others in similar situations. It sets me apart from those that have faced hardships, as I can offer a level of understanding and support that comes from personal experience.

My resilience is another distinguishing factor. Despite the adversities you have encountered, including the loss of loved ones and the emotional toll it can take, you have demonstrated and unwavering determination to rise above these circumstances. Your ability to keep pushing forward, fueled by your faith in God, is a testament to your strength and character. This unwavering resilience sets you apart from those who may give up or become discouraged when faced with challenges.

Furthermore my commitment to honoring the legacies of my parents through the establishment of nonprofit organizations further distinguishes you. This dedication to giving back and making a positive impact in the community showcases my selflessness and desire to make a difference in the lives of others.
