We had the good fortune of connecting with Tai Tipton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tai Tipton, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
The most important lesson that being an entrepreneur has taught me is that I am not special! I know that sounds crazy because I am trying to “sell” things from my business but definitely hear me out. I realized in my long-standing 17 year career as a hairstylist that all I wanted to be known for was that something “special”, the “IT Girl!” if you will! Sure maybe I was briefly, in my own world. But guess what?! I wasn’t as “special” as I thought I was. Now with my almost 1-year old new flower company, I thought “oh man! I have the most original, most thoughtful, most amazing idea for a business!…A Flower Truck!” Did a little research and guess what?! Little did I know and to my awe and amazement, not only was there a little flower truck in my city but they were ALL over the nation! So many of them! I was then just excited that people out there where having some good business luck with this supposed “original, super special idea” of mine! So I launched it and never looked back! So what I have truly learned is that it has to be special to me. Every stem I use, every post I make on social media, every arrangement I do, every exchange of smiles I give on the Flower Truck pop-ups, I can’t fret too much with what other florist and flower truck businesses are doing! For one, I am too busy to think about that but for another why fret about what others are doing? Thats their business and mine is mine. WE are all trying to make people SMILE! Bring something fun into our communities, especially with launching this business in a pandemic! All I want is others to feel special when they are a customer of mine. You see, maybe it is a cliche-like Buddhist approach to how I view my business/myself but what makes me better or more special than the others? Nothing. All I can do now is put some love and support out there with as many like-minded businesses in the industry and locally! Support each other to grow happiness and prosperity in business! I think it’s important to put our ego aside for a moment to realize, we don’t really have any extraordinary ideas! We can’t physically “take” ideas from others if they are “original” to us in the beginning but what may separate some from others is putting your ideas into action and fruition! I heard this funny story one time of how Michael Jackson would call his manager in the middle of the night, 3am or 4am, saying to him, “Write this down, write this down!” The manager would of course reply with, “Michael, it’s 3am! Can’t this wait until tomorrow!” Michael would then reply, “If we don’t write this down and put action into it now, Prince will!”… You see, we are not special in the sense that we have all of the great ideas, we ALL have great ideas. Some may have the SAME EXACT SPECIAL, great idea as you (this is a definite) but what we can do is give our customers (or, in Michael’s case, his fans!) a feeling that THEY are special and what you want to give them is special to you. What you have to offer may not be the most “original idea” (and this goes for ALL businesses out there!) but you can offer exceptional service, your authenticity (<-big one!), love and lots of patience with your endeavor. That friends, all goes a long way in owning a business of your own! Forget the naysayers and work hard! Being my own boss for many years has taught me that and it has helped me relax in a sense that I am not competing with anyone out there, ever. I am just simply, doing my thing and I absolutely love being a florist and Flower Truck owner!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I view floristry as an art form. It is very therapeutic to me and gives me an outlet to play with color, texture and design. Its meditative and smells amazing! What may set us apart is our style and authentic way we arrange flowers + our customer service. Our Flower Truck is esthetically very different then other trucks around and I love the more edgier appeal our truck has, the flowers truly soften and brighten it up. It’s a perfect juxtaposition. The one the thing I have learned the most is that flowers make people happy…REALLY Happy! The thing I think I’d like everyone to know about us is that we are so passionate about customer care. We are excited to delivery flowers to you. We are always ready to pop up the truck and see you smile and we are always grateful of your support! If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Fort Worth is a super fun city! I would take them to places to eat like Taco Heads, Snooze, Hatsuyuki Handroll Bar or Spiral Diner! Maybe something a little more sophisticated I’d go with Pacific Table or ! YUM! Biking trails at Trinity park, great cup of coffee at Arcadia Coffee! Walk magnolia or south main or go to Clearfork. There are so many fun pop-up markets to shop and support local vendors here, so definitely one of those! The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband. Plain and simple. He (Chase Tipton) is the one that has supported me and helped me navigate this dream. He built the truck for me, helped me work up the funds to get started and is working as a florist too! We both love what we are doing and have been in awe of the momentum of this business in one short year of launching! He is abundantly creative and fuels a lot of my fire to keep going and seeing where this little flower business takes us!
