We had the good fortune of connecting with Tahnee Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tahnee, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I remember what it felt like to be a woman with hair loss. Not just a woman, but a hairdresser! My biggest motivation was my cause. I wanted to bring confidence back to people and bring others hope through my purpose!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets The Hair Mama apart is that I know what it’s like to have hair loss myself. Most of my staff also have hair loss and its the common denominator that brings us together with our clients. We have had moments where we have cried with clients over their situations, because we know how powerful hair loss has been for us in our own lives as well. I’m most proud of my product and my employees. The Hair Mama’s quality is up to par with wig brands that sell for 3x the amount. I’m really glad I can offer these wigs at this price and see the reactions of our clients when they try on one of our wigs for the first time. I am most excited to continue to grow. We just moved out of our wig shop we’d only been in a year and we’ve doubled in size! It definitely hasn’t been easy. I stay up at night thinking about how I have 2 little mouths to feed and how my employees have rent to pay, kids, etc. It’s a lot of pressure! But, I know God has me here for a reason, so I trust in His plan. I want the world to know that hair loss totally sucks. People will try to sell you products to help regrow your hair and many of them won’t work. But, there is a solution! The Hair Mama would love to help you back to feeling more like you, again.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When I’m not at work, I’m with my kids! I wish I could give you a cooler itinerary. Dallas is only 45 minutes from our salon in Colleyville and has great hang out spots and a big shopping mall!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to thank my mom and dad for all their love and support. For spending long nights with me and always believing I could make this happen! I want to thank my two little boys for seeing mommy work hard and for being my reason why! I want to thank other woman in this business who have encouraged and supported me as well!
