Meet Susana Romo | CPA for Dallas-Fort Worth Businesses

We had the good fortune of connecting with Susana Romo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Susana, how does your business help the community?
As a first-gen who built her career in one of the largest global accounting firms, I loved what I did but I wanted to have a greater impact in my local community. That became even clearer during Covid when my husband brought me in to help his family’s bakery with taxes and transitioning ownership to his youngest brother. There wasn’t bookkeeping or a financial process in place, just a family working hard and keeping things running. Seeing that up close changed the way I viewed my profession. It made me realize how many businesses are out there doing everything they can, but without anyone to guide them financially.
That’s when I decided to start my own CPA firm here in Irving, Texas. I wanted to build something different: a firm that empowers business owners with the same expertise typically reserved for the wealthy. At Romo CPA, we meet clients where they are and use modern tools to make managing finances easier for entrepreneurs on the go. No more paper organizers or boxes of receipts. Many businesses don’t have bookkeeping, tax strategy, or long-term planning in place, and they shouldn’t have to navigate it alone.
What sets us apart is building relationships that go beyond tax season. From local events to year-round workshops, we help business owners while strengthening the community around them. For me, this is what it means to use my skills to make a real difference in the local economy.

What should our readers know about your business?
Romo CPA is built around a simple belief: that local businesses deserve the same level of clarity, strategy, and care that the largest companies receive. Before starting my practice, I spent about a decade at two of the Bug 4 accounting firms, specializing in high-net-worth individuals and gift & estate work. That experience shaped me into a regional expert in my field, but more importantly, it taught me how transformative guidance can be.
We’re a family-owned firm, led by both a CPA and an operations executive, and that perspective helps us connect with the clients we serve. Getting here wasn’t easy. I earned my stripes the traditional way: long hours, tough deadlines, and a lot of weekend work. What fuels me is seeing the real relief our clients feel when their finances finally make sense. I’ve helped clients reduce costs through smarter planning, avoid costly tax mistakes, and move into the next level of their business with personalized strategies designed specifically for them.
Today, I’m most excited about two things: serving local businesses here in DFW and building a practice that is modern, approachable, and community-focused. I want people to know that our brand is about empowerment: helping families and entrepreneurs feel confident, informed, and supported.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend came to visit, I’d take them to one of my favorite pockets of the metroplex: Irving–Las Colinas. With its mix of incredible food and beautiful views, it feels like a mini-vacation without ever leaving the city.
We’d settle in at a hotel near Lake Carolyn, probably the Omni, so we could wake up and step right out to the water. Mornings would start with a local coffee delivered by a mobile cart owned by my friends at Hudson Coffee, followed by a peaceful stroll around the lake.
Afternoons would be for exploring the pop-up community market at The Sound. We’d grab dinner and drinks at Mexican Sugar and end the night at the Toyota Music Factory for a live show.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I wouldn’t be where I am without my family. My husband has been the biggest supporter from day one and my parents have been the foundation of everything for me. Each of these individuals were there through the long study hours in college to the demanding early years of my career, and most recently, encouraging me to take the leap into building my own CPA firm.
Their support has shaped every step of my journey, and just like many of the clients we serve, we’re proud to be a family-operated firm. I truly couldn’t be doing this without any of them.
