We had the good fortune of connecting with SURRICHER FITE and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi SURRICHER, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
Yes. I AM is an affirmation I wake up with daily. I AM for me means

I AM… Strong (I’m aware of my strengths and weaknesses.)

I AM… Love (I’m capable of the exchange of giving and receiving love.)

I AM… Deserving (I work hard; therefore, I’m worthy of all that I am blessed with mentally, physically, spiritually, and abundantly.)

I AM…IM-Perfect (I will not be defined by what others don’t like or understand about me.)

I AM… Me. (Just as I am. God makes no mistakes.)

What I like about this affirmation is that it sustains a positive self-worth mindset. Regardless of how anyone chooses to see you, Only you have the power to decide who you become. I don’t believe in bad days, Only challenging ones. This affirmation sets the tone each day from start to finish.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have 30 plus years of experience in Education and have worn many hats from Early Childhood to Middle School education. I’ve worked in all aspects, i.e., Administration, Childcare Director, Teacher and Teacher Assistant. Out of all those years and roles, Special Education has been my reward. I love the fact that the kids show up as themselves authentically every day.

My brand story. I’m driven by creative freedom. I have always enjoyed creating art that channels my energy into something sustainable. The name Blackberry Blueprint is homage to my African heritage and those who sacrificed and paved the way
.
My determination and passion plus quality materials and service gave me a foundation to build from. I started off by creating
crystal bracelets and t-shirts for myself, friends, and family. It became a hobby that I enjoyed so it easily became a business.

Sipsy Soul- Cocktail Artistry/ bartending defines itself. It is basically adding my twist to some of the classic and old-fashioned drinks. As a kid I would check out the cocktail recipes in my Mom’s home decor magazines. Kool-Aid was my canvas back then. I would mix flavors and garnish them with lemons, limes and strawberries but this only went so far. When I went to college it got little more interesting!

Blackberry Jewels -I custom make waist beads, crystal bracelets, and necklaces. I just added crystal pendants.

Sipsy Scents- These are custom made cocktail scented candles that include an Old-Fashioned essence. Included is Dirty Diana which is a softer scent. I have customized options for personal tastes and memorial customs candles to pay tribute to lost loved ones.

Headlock Headgear- This includes my hat line which has a variety of styles and colors. This is a big seller.

Was it easy? When you enjoy what you do it’s never hard but, managing your time with a full-time job can be tricky. A calendar and alarms are a necessity in helping me to manage my schedule.

One essential fact I’ve learned along the way is to set goals based on intention and purpose not perfection. Pefection is overrated. I also learned that the statement “the customer is always right” is true. Whether it’s supply and demand or constructive feedback, the customers opinion, feedback or word of mouth is what helps a business reach its true potential.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am all about a good vibe so I would highly recommend the Lorenzo Hotel Downtown. It’s very impressive with beautiful art throughout the hotel and an awesome view of Downtown Dallas. The Grapevine is the best dive bar in town and so much fun. Make sure to order a Tangarita; you won’t regret it.
The Exchange downtown has a variety of restaurants. Reunion Towner is stunning with a 360 view of the city. If you’re a cigar lover Allure Jazz &Cigar lounge has a night for every vibe and is a guaranteed good time. Fisherman’s Kitchen is a must for a seafood fix. Sugar Factory. Kiss Dallas. Ida-Claire for food and a all around good vibe. I just visited Wonder Bar and it is now one of my new favorite spots!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My circle includes a tribe of people who all contribute to my growth process. Genuine support has come in all forms. My mother Ruby Roy, my family overall have always been in my corner.

My co-workers & friends have been my Superheroes in advocating and motivating me in every endeavor.

I also credit a strong customer base that has been essential in getting the word out about Blackberry Blueprint by reacting or sharing product posts. That goes a long way and for that, I’m thankful.

I would like to shout out to my friend and mentor Merrivonne Billington for always being a listening ear and overall supporter.

Book wise “Some love, Some Pain Sometime” by J. California Cooper has been my go-to read for 26 years.

My favorite Favorite line “There is always some beauty in life. Look up…and get on with it. Build your own Rainbow.”

Life is all trial and truth. I take nothing for granted. I’m grateful. I’m blessed.
