We had the good fortune of connecting with SUMMIT VALLEY and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi SUMMIT, why did you pursue a creative career?
We decided to pursue an artistic career in music as a band for one main reason: we are all here to enjoy the journey. As individual musicians we are all capable of doing well, but as a band there is a sort of energy we create that the crowd can feel through our presence and our music. The four of us come from all walks of life and what ties us together is what we live for, the music. We each bring to the table very different styles due to our different musical backgrounds and once we start writing a song it’s like the sky explodes.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Summit Valley isn’t just a band to us, we are a family. We include musical elements from different genres such as rock, blues and jazz. Due to having such different styles of music, the art that we create together is what we’d like to think is a new sound. We have been on this journey for about three years and throughout this time we have learned many lessons to not only help us survive but how to keep each other sane. We are working towards a future filled with music, live shows, and wild times but above all else, we know we can’t do this without one another.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Being musicians is not only a life purpose for us but a full time job. However, we still prioritize finding time to just have fun and enjoy each others presence. Since we’re a DFW based band, some of our favorite spots include: getting together for lunch and some beers at 54th street in Fort Worth, Tx or hitting up the Truck Yards for a game of corn hole and local food trucks. We don’t always have time to mess around but when we do those are our go-to spots!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shoutout to Eric and Laura Jay for letting us make loud noise in their living week after week. Without their unconditional support and hospitality none of this would be possible.
