We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephanie Spriggins and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stephanie, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea for my business came from a gift that I gave to my four sisters. Every year we have a Sisters Retreat and we exchange gifts during this annual event (in leu of birthday gifts and Christmas gifts). I was trying to find something special when I came up the idea of an ideal relaxation spa gift. Only an at home spa gift and what might be included. The first thing I made was a bathtub caddy/tray. I’d seen several but wanted something rustic and simple in design. After I came up with the caddy, I wanted all things “spa” to put with the caddy. I had already dibbled and dabbled with some natural skin care products before and thought they would make the gift complete. I made an aromatherapy experience with a bubble bath, an exfoliating sugar scrub, bath salts & tea detoxing soak and Shea butter body butter. I kind of asked each of them what their favorite fragrances were and that really inspired the initial first four fragrances to the line of products we are using today: Lavender Dreams, Lemon Sorbet, Citrus Sunshine and Vanilla Cream. I packaged the entire set together and gifted it to them at the retreat! They each loved it and though it was a very nice gift and that maybe I should sell them.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
a. What sets us apart from others? Our brand is not like others out there, we are selling an experience/a destiny that you can discover at home. Not only are our products all natural, but we also have an organic herb garden on site where we grow and harvest some of the ingredients in some of our products. b. How did you get where you are today professionally? I believe that being an entrepreneur is in my blood. Although I don’t come from a family entrepreneur’s, I do come from a family of extremely talented and smart creative family members. My mother always had something else on the side from her “day job”; both of my parents were exceptionally skilled and creative with their hands. I watched my mother use her gifts to bring others joy. I knew her “day job” was not what she wanted to do but what she had to do to pay the bills. c. Was it easy? Since I can remember in my lifetime, I have always had a side hustle or two. Many of them failed, but the desire inside of me never goes away. It is not easy to start over again but do it as many times as it takes; it is worth it! Lessons learned? There have been many painful challenges from dealing with people I thought I knew and trusted, but I had to learn that not everybody will be supportive. Some people you will just have to leave behind and keep on moving forward. Lessons I have learned long the way is to allow others watch you work hard in silence and let the success make the noise. Put your head down and grind. Focus on what you want every day and then do the work. d. What do you want the world to know? I want the world to know about our story is that the best is yet to come! We have so many products that have not yet been release but are ideas. We try to release something new ever so often. Keep following us there is more to come!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Since I live in between the two major cities in the metroplex, we would probably hang out at Bishop Arts, Trinity Grove and Oak Lawn in Dallas or Near Southside in Fort Worth. For the past four months, I have become a new Vegan, and I would take them to all of my favorite spots like: ITSOVEGAN in Grand Prairie, AvoEatery in Trinity Grove, Flower Child in Oak Lawn, Snooze AM, Spiral Diner Dallas and Fort Worth and 5AMDrip in Fort Worth.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout to my Sister and Business Partner, Audria Patrick! I would not be this far along with this business if we had not decided to collaborate and combine our talents in the effort!
