We had the good fortune of connecting with Staci Ferber and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Staci, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
After pursuing a career in marketing and traditional advertising sales (print/magazines) for 25+ years, the industry took a deep decline and I recognized that it was time to pivot. While i represented premier brands such as O, The Oprah Magazine, Harper’s Bazaar, Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire and others, I knew that with this knowledge of how to market specific brands and manage a large territory, I could take this experience and apply it to something that I was passionate about…Organization.

What should our readers know about your business?
The name of my company is ReOrgIt and we are a luxury home organizing service. ReOrgIt offers customized solutions to maximize functionality and create a beautiful space for our clients. In addition to organizing rooms in your home, we also offer closet designing, move management (helping your before, during and after the move to get you settled and organized in your new home) and helping seniors downsize. We spend time getting to know our clients and understanding their lifestyle. This enables us to provide the best ways to store their belongings and develop systems that are easy to maintain. Starting a new business is not easy for anyone. There are so many logistics involved and for someone who hasn’t done this before, it’s an eye opening experience. There are many long hours put into developing a business plan and getting a business started. Some things can be frustrating, but most are very exciting and rewarding. I’ve gained so much by starting ReOrgIt and encourage anyone who is passionate about something to pursue their dream of owning their own business. Be patient and open minded. I came up with the brand name ReOrgIt to clearly represent what type of company it is and what we do. Our tagline is Life Simplified. So with hours of research and the help of some friends in advertising, one night over a bottle of wine the brand was created. And today, ReOrgIt is becoming recognized for the work that we do for our clients, how we do it and most importantly why and that is to help people to live their best life. My biggest accomplishment and likely the most important for businesses like mine was to land my first big client. While confidentiality is of the utmost importance, my first big project (redesigning a new master closet and managing the entire process and of course organizing the new closet) I’m forever grateful to these clients and when they read this, they will know who they are. The biggest form of flattery and recognition comes from client referrals. All of my business comes from word of mouth or Instagram. Like most small businesses, traditional advertising is not part of your budget. So getting creative and marketing your brand via social media and through client referrals has been the organic growth of ReOrgIt.

Why did I want to become a professional organizer?  Organizing is part of my DNA and how I manage my personal and professional life.  I was always the person who had their closet organized by category, style and color and friends and family would always ask me if I could help them organize their closets and then pantries and kitchens, and the list went on. Call me crazy, but there is something so therapeutic and exciting at the same time taking a space that is a total mess and organizing it into a calm and beautiful space where you can find everything and it’s so easy to maintain. That’s when I realized that I could make a business out of my passion for organizing and apply other creative aspects like learning how to design closets and transforming other spaces in people’s homes. It’s so rewarding when you reveal a space that you have transformed for your client and they are so happy, excited and relieved.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There are so many great places in Dallas to share with friends who are visiting. I would start the day by taking a long walk on the Katy Trail and then coffee at Starbucks on Knox St. You can’t come to Dallas without some retail therapy and you can certainly get your fill in this city strolling through Highland Park Village and NorthPark. Lunch at Mi Cocina and dinner at Fearing’s. Other great places to experience are Dallas Museum of Art, Perot Museum, Arboretum, Klyde Warren Park, 6th Floor museum and Nasher Museum. Some of my other favorite restaurants are Javier’s, Taverna, Hillstone, La Billboquet, Doce Mesas, Little Katana and the Rustic for some music and a burger.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are actually 2 people that I would like to recognize: Lynn McKenna and Kim Merrill, who were former supervisors, mentors and life long friends, instilled a level of confidence in me that to this day is stronger than ever. Their examples have guided me personally and professionally and especially to pursue my dream of having my own business and becoming a professional organizer.
