We had the good fortune of connecting with Sierra Demouchet and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sierra, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
The most important thing I’ve done as a parent is deciding to be an intentional parent to my children. I approach my children’s childhood with their future self in mind. I want to nurture them and teach them important life lessons just as any other parent, but I want them to know they aren’t just another task for me. They have been my biggest teachers of life.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I created my first story at 5 years young while sitting under my grandmother’s coffee table. I had an entire world going on in the living room, but no one saw it until my uncle sat on the chair my imaginary friend was sitting in. From that day on, everyone knew I was a writer. My journey to becoming an author has been a journey of self-discovery, sacrifice, and risk. I didn’t believe people when they told me, “you can’t make a living off of books.” I took a deep-dive into the literary world by not only publishing my art, but producing literary events, and using my art as a tool of healing for readers and new authors. The greatest lesson I’ve learned in my literary journey has been to not place others above my art.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The ultimate itinerary would be food, culture, and fun!

Food: I love supporting small businesses and although there is too many to name, we would have to begin our trip at Damian’s Cajun Soul Cafe in Arlington, Tx.

Culture: An impromptu stroll in Deep Ellum to explore the current happenings, and a ticket or two to the museums nearby.

Fun: Klyde Warren Park with the children and then, a night of comedy at Dallas Comedy Club

My husband, Dion, for always supporting me in every endeavor and pushing me to be my best self.
