Meet Sherica Mayfield

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sherica Mayfield and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sherica, what’s the most important thing you’ve done for your children?
I am a mother to 8 children . 4 beautiful girls and 4 handsome young men. I am a recovering addict and lost my rights to all of my children in 2018. Thankfully after having to be partially separated and put in foster care my children were adopted by family members. Fast forward to today I’ve changed my life and now am able to be in my children’s life. Changing my life was the most important thing that I could do for my children after the trauma that they suffered from. We are now healing together gracefully which I knew was very important after receiving help for my addiction and healing my own trauma I didn’t only make amends directly but indirectly also!!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a huge advocate for sisterhood and unity which lead to me and 5 other women within 5 other states Florida, Alabama, Delaware, Louisiana and Colorado met each other on social media and came up with the idea to start our own non-collegiate sorority. I always had a desire to be part of a sorority but being that I never went to a university I thought that opportunity was lost . Not until I enrolled into Colorado Technical University as an online student in 2022 and was wanting to be part of some type of extra curricular activities and learned about no collegiate sororities. Nu Gamma Lambda was founded in March of 2025 . I’m so grateful for the opportunity to be surrounded by such amazing women who I can be reliable to! I also recently just became the assistant manager for Candyy Rodriguez LNM Management Record Label and looking forward to this new journey!!!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would definitely take her to Trinity Groves!!! I just love the scenery and the whole vibe that it gives!!! The restaurant selection is amazing and there’s always different events going on that are family friendly!!! The view at night is breathtaking Trinity Groves is my go to!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I most definitely want to give a shout out to Oxford Sobering Living for helping on the beginning of my recovery Journey, Nexus Women and Children Recovery Center for providing me the most therapeutic safe haven in the midst of struggling with several relapses and last but not least Candyy Rodriguez for advocating for me and helping me share my strength and hope to those whoever might need it the most!!!!
