We had the good fortune of connecting with Shealene Chaithon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shealene, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I’m born & raised from Derby, KS. Moved to Garden Grove, CA for a few years before settling here in the DFW area. I’m from a small town near Wichita. My parents both worked at one of the largest aircraft companies and took on many side hustles. Naturally, I became the same. I started working at 16, picked up a lot of skills and trades until I figured out what I loved most. I have always had this motivated mindset. My parents gave me everything they could but I knew deep down, I know I should be the one to give myself everything. I’m so grateful for my upbringing, my parents led and showed me the foundation of independence and without it I don’t think I’ll be where I’m at.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
She.A.Beauty is a representation of all things beauty. It came from part of my first name Shealene. It’s not just for woman either. A lot of my clients are also men! Shout out to you (S)He.A.Beauty! But ever since I became a mom at 18, all I knew of myself was just how to be a mom. Not a young adult, so really I didn’t know who I was or what else I was just knew that I was a mom. I worked a lot doing different jobs but never let my passions peak until I was my mid 20s. I finally decided to live my life instead of for others. I started and have multiple businesses but She.A.Beauty LLC is me. To get where where I am at today, it was more mental, taking accountability and having discipline. If you can’t control yourself and your emotions then you can’t make any decisions. Making sure I am in control of myself has helped a lot with my business decisions. Everyday I am growing, everyday I make sure I compete with my own self with what I can do to improve every aspect of my life. During the pandemic, I went full force to the one industry I have always loved, beauty. I completed esthetics school during a pandemic! It wasn’t easy. But is life ever? It was important for me to achieve getting my license because, I did lose myself a bit. I lacked my own self care and I want to be there for others who felt like they don’t know who they are anymore after having kids or just being in the wrong relationships. I love getting to know others stories and journeys in life. More often, I have experienced the same. If anything, I rather have others understand they aren’t alone. It’s just more than what’s on the outside of looking beautiful. I want people to understand they can bounce back from anything in their lives.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m honestly a homebody. I have always been an old soul too but I am a big foodie. My idea of a good time is really doing a food tour. DFW food scene is pretty amazing, so many amazing and talented chefs. But even though I do enjoy being home, I love to travel. I love doing different things and going on adventures. I’ll do something at least once just to try. Most of the time, our home is everyone’s favorite spot!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I wouldn’t be where I am at without my parents of course.. their unconditional love and support. Through some of my questionable life choices, they still stood by me. My grandma, the only persons nagging I’ll take. My kids, because sometimes you’ll have those days and they’re the reason why I could get up and get out of bed. My life, parenting and business partner Steven. My friends who have been here throughout all of my different stages of life and the ones who I have known now. Everyone impacts your life in different ways, some teach you lessons and are here for some seasons.
