We had the good fortune of connecting with Shay Clark and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shay, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
When the pandemic hit I was afraid for my business. I just knew for sure that sales would drop which would eventually cause me to end my business. I remember getting a call from a friend and she had a plan. We used the downtime during the pandemic to rebrand TeaRoomLashes. At that moment I knew I had to keep going. Having a great support system and a consistent customer base is all the support you need to keep going. Whenever I feel like giving up, there is always someone there to ensure me that I’m destined for greatness. This is how I know to keep going. I am destined for greatness.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Besides running a business, I work in the healthcare field with mental health. I have a heart for mental health as well as homelessness. My goal is to make every community comfortable to speak about their mental health and seek assistance as soon as possible. I have always had dreams of opening a facility that would be free of charge to patrons and make a comfortable space for them to be free and surrounded by people who understand. My goal in the near future is to make that happen. TeaRoomLashes was created when someone so close and dear to me was dealing with mental health. This is why I feel the need to keep pushing and striving for more. This is not the end of my story!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my bestfriends were visiting the area I would first take them to TrueKitchenKocktails. I love the atmosphere there but most importantly, the food. The food is everything. I haven’t had one bad thing. As I speak, I want lambchops lol. We would then explore the downtown area where there are lots of things to do. My favorite brunch spot would be Hero that is located by the American Airlines Center. Its food and atmosphere is great as well. Last but not least, we would have to go to Perry’s Steakhouse. I am in love with the Surf and Turf dish. As you can see, I’m a foodie!!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to shoutout Shanice Henderson. When I was in doubt about continuing my business, she stepped right on in and gave me an extra push. She was my right hand throughout the entire rebranding process. When things seemed to be going wrong, she found the positive in everything and made things happen. Since then, business has been more than great. With that being said, Thank you so much Shanice for believing in me when I didn’t believe in myself.
