Meet Sharifa Wahlstrom | Certified Personal Trainer & Camp Gladiator Franchisee

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sharifa Wahlstrom and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sharifa, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I am passionate about fitness and helping people and I think that shines through most of the time. I had multiple people tell me I would make a great personal trainer and that I should go for it. I always just laughed it off, thinking there was no way I could ever do that. Funny that a few years later, that is exactly what I ended up doing through Camp Gladiator!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I really feel like everyone who is in our group is very inclusive, positive and supportive of everyone. That is one of the things that sets us apart. As well as being for all fitness levels.
Getting where I am today has not been easy, there has been a little blood, a lot of sweat and some tears along the way. But nothing that I couldn’t smile through and in the end, laugh off. Challenges will always arise, you just have to find a creative way around them and the best thing you can do is stay positive and be that positive energy through it all.
The lessons I have learned along the way I already touched on before, staying positive, rising above and being a light to other people goes a long way for your mental health and resilience.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First I would take them to Old Town Lewisville. There is so much up and coming there right now, its a fun little spot. Specifically Old Town Wine house for a Charcuterie board & wine!
Next would be just around the corner at Wayne Ferguson Plaza. On really nice nights its great to just sit and hang out with your friends. Sometimes there is live music as well!
Hiking all around both Lake Grapevine and Lake Lewisville then maybe some Axe Throwing at Golden Axe Throwing.
Hit up all the revamped parks in and around Flower Mound with the kids.
Then we would go see a movie at Moviehouse & Eatery in Flower Mound. Followed by all the little shops and restaurants right over there in Lakeside.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I began this journey with Camp Gladiator as a Camper first, then became a trainer about two years later. I’m over four years in total and I have to shout out all my friends who have supported me on this journey. The first two years I trained with my friends regularly, which held me accountable to showing up to my workouts and eat better. Now those same friends attend my workouts regularly & I have made some amazing new ones along the way who have supported me immensely. My family has been there as well the entire time, through all the ups and down. My two sons are the ones who keep me going, I’m really proud of them.
