We had the good fortune of connecting with Sharidyn Barnes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sharidyn, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I am from Dallas Texas and I am inspired from many things as in my hometown including graffiti as well as the architecture in my hometown. My upbringing includes being introduced to art at a young age and looking at animation and music for inspiration. Looking at my favorite cartoons for drawing and painting is the reason why I am the artist I am today. By the time this is up, I would like to be. a well-known artist, but

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
No, nothing has been easy. There has not been an easy day in my life. Usually, there is a day when you look back and things ran smoothly, but I do not have that day. I have overcome pretty much everything. I have had two people die in my life, overcame that. I have overcome people not believing in me. I have even gotten over my family and their pretty much attitude towards me. I have learned that you should speak your mind and not care about what anyone else thinks ever because people are going to do what they want and act how they want. People are going to act selfishly, especially in this day and age and you should act accordingly. The most important thing to people is social media and I have realized the lengths people go to to put on a front. I have truly stopped caring and it has been freeing. People are going to live their life how they want to and disregard others and you can take it or leave it. People will lose zero sleep over mistreating you. People do things when it benefits them but other than that nobody is knocking on your door to come and save you. People do not care and the world just does not work that way anymore. The main thing is to take it day by day and remember that this world will not spare you. I think in the feature I would like to study abroad in Florence, but they would more than likely give it someone who complexion was not mine.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my college friends were visiting maybe club or rooftop chill vibes downtown. if they wanted to hang out I would take them to a game and might be the Dallas Mavs, Dallas Cowboys, or Texas Rangers. That’s the most fun I have had. I would also ride ATVs and do whatever I wanted. Maybe try to enjoy my life like a regular 20 something year and not one who wakes up to work non stop.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Honestly, I am not quite sure who deserves credit for my story. Because I genuinely have been through enough and don’t really know at this point. I have my close friends but it is saying someone in particular deserves it, is 100% false. There is not one person I can say. I have tried to pretty much thank my family and friends but I do not know and I take it day by day. Sometimes I feel like the support is false and only when it benefits that just like how it is nowadays.
