We had the good fortune of connecting with Shardae Jefferson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shardae, what role has risk played in your life or career?
We all know the saying “no risk, no reward,” and that’s truly something I live by. You can only get so far playing it safe, and every risk I’ve taken has ended in success or got me closer to where I’m working toward. In my work I take risks by pouring money into marketing, inventory, photography spaces, etc. I could play it safe and buy cheaper items, or only shoot outside so it doesn’t cost. However when you live in scarcity, you grow in scarcity. You have to invest in your business all the time for you to grow. In life I take risks by never being afraid of change. When I was planning to move to Dallas, so many people would tell me it was a bad idea because I had stability and a network in Michigan. But that didn’t deter me, it just motivated me to work harder.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Shardaisy.com is an e-commerce women’s boutique that sells various styles that can take you from day to nighttime. We carry sizes s-xl, and our goal is to make every woman feel beautiful and confident. Building my boutique is always a work in progress. I am always learning, investing in courses, and changing things. I have found success in my business by always being a student, and always being willing to change! When I run into issues, I make sure I am transparent and do my best to fix things promptly. The biggest lesson I have learned so far is that you can never know enough. There will always be a more efficient way of doing something, a new app for Shopify, or a better way to plan finances. I would like people to know that I am a hard worker and I am determined to build my business into a multimillion-dollar business while serving a community of hardworking women! I want to show other women, especially black women that you can build the life and business of your dreams.
