We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeff Savage and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jeff, what are you inspired by?
I’m inspired by people who take action. People who do what they say they’re going to do. Those who not only dream of a bright future for themselves, but do not hesitate to roll up their sleeves, get dirty, and make it happen. Those who show, and don’t tell. Action inspires the world around us to take notice of both subtle and major changes happening before our very eyes. When I see others succeed once a decision had been made, after they committed to making it happen, and then took action towards that goal, it fills me with hope that within us all lies the power of profound, personal change, and if we have the courage to harness that power, there are truly no limits to what we can achieve in our lives.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Being a working Voice Actor actually has little to do with speaking into a microphone. Marketing yourself and finding your own clients are necessary steps to getting not just work, but recurring work from clients you’ve nurtured relationships with. It’s being present on social media, it’s learning how to build, operate, and maintain your own home studio that rivals the sound quality of major studios in big cities. It’s the ability to prioritize tasks and be disciplined with your time, because you often work alone in solitude. It’s the ability to stay hopeful when you submit many auditions and never hear anything back from the casting calls. But through it all, you have to have a passion for what you do. You have to be easy to work with, and to have an attitude of gratitude to make your clients want to work with you again and again. I feel that sets me apart from others, and makes ME feel good about my reputation in the industry and how I approach my day-to-day objectives.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love being outdoors and including activity in my everyday tasks and outings around the city. I would highlight our beautiful trail system here in Dallas, and stop by Katy Trail Ice House to people watch those taking advantage of the bike and running paths, stop by Oso Climbing Gym in Design District for some fun and thrilling indoor rock climbing, and take in the sights and natural beauty of White Rock Lake with a visit to the adjacent Dallas Arboretum. A stroll through Victory Park to get an ice cream cone from Aqua S, or catch a movie at Cinepolis Theater. Relax at Klyde Warren Park and enjoy lunch from a variety of food trucks. Dallas has many outdoor sights that encourage exercise and a fitness centric lifestyle!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to give a shoutout to my Dallas business accountability group that I meet with once a week to discuss our Voiceover businesses, celebrate each other’s successes, and learn from each other’s unique knowledge of the Voiceover industry. Thank you Albie Robles, Robyn Needham, Lawana Dyer, and Charles Coats for inspiring me to be the best Voice Actor I can be, and to keep moving forwards when the journey becomes arduous.
