We had the good fortune of connecting with Janette Gibson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Janette, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success is related to the connections that I am able to establish through networking within the musical community. The culture here in Dallas has been overwhelmingly encouraging and positive and I have been fortunate to connect with a community of supportive individuals.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a saxophonist, brand ambassador, and music educator, having the opportunity to share my gift with others is my purpose. I cater to a variety of clients of all ages and musical preferences, ranging from classical to R&B genres across the southern United States. I am most excited to assist in being a super connector within the creative community globally. Currently I am working with the team at Camp David Media as host of a new streaming series entitled Urban Gateway. This series aims to bridge the gap between up and coming creatives and more established talent world wide. Through this experience I have had the opportunity to support others that are also along the path of entrepreneurship and provide insight in order to assist in their developmental journey. I am most fulfilled when I am building up others and it is important for me to be a catalyst for greater unity within my community.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My ideal week in Dallas would include connecting with nature, enjoying new foods and networking within the music scene. One of my favorite areas would be near Lake Ray Hubbard, there you can find the best water activities in the Dallas area. From fishing and kayaking, to gorgeous nature trails there are so many beautify pockets near the lake to make any trip an adventure. Dining in Dallas is also an amazing experience. The culture caters to ushering in serene vibes while incorporating southern elements into its cuisine and atmosphere. I would recommend taking time to tour our Deep Ellum district, there you will find the heart of our food and music scene. From places like The Freeman Cafe, Sandaga 813, to Louie Louie Piano Bar you are sure to have a time to remember.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I owe so much to the support I receive from so many community leaders, friends, and family. First, I’d like to thank my parents Alwyn and Deborah Gibson for their commitment to pouring into my gift and willingness to sacrifice on my behalf. I would like to thank the team at Camp David Media, Dave and Diana DeBerry, Jack and Jon Wright and Linda Ngo for taking me in as a part of the family. Also I would like to thank Kims Korea Saxophone for allowing me to represent such an amazing product as a brand ambassador. Lastly I would like to shout out community mentor and saxophonist Paul Rogers for his support and encouragement. You all inspire me to excel in so many areas of life and I am so grateful for each one of you.
