We had the good fortune of connecting with Shakeal Hunter and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shakeal, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I decided to pursue my business after my husband convinced me that I would be great at it after designing shirts for our kids football team. I’ve also had the desire to create looks or designs for my kids sports activities and what better way to do them myself.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am most happy about how my business has grown. I would have never thought that I would have as many clients as I have. I’ve done a lot of research and watched many videos of how to create the things I’ve done. I also follow a lot of groups to get advise on certain projects and new ideas! My biggest challenge was last year. I found out I was pregnant on top of juggling my kids sports and it was very hard to maintain. I got too busy and was not able to work as fast as I wanted. Due to maintaining my health I had to close down temporarily but I’m proud to say I’m back up and running!

I can say that it was not easy getting to were I am today. Getting everyone to trust me to give them what they were asking was by the biggest challenge! To this day it is a challenge but I’ve learned to just trust in God and give my best in everything I do!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I had to take my friend out on the town for a week we would definitely have a night out in Deep Ellum. They are good drinking and eating places there and just a walk downtown Dallas is awesome. Two restaurants that we would have to go eat would be Ruth Chris and Del Friscos.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shoutout my amazing husband! He has been my biggest supporter, motivator, and anything else I’ve needed. I would also like to shoutout my family and close friends. They have been a big support to me as well!
