We had the good fortune of connecting with Shakari Tucker-Dial and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shakari, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
This is a good question! The most important factor behind my success is none other than my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! I get excited talking about how wonderful He’s been to me and the company! We were created with purpose and sometimes we don’t realize that the paths we’ve tread were necessary. I never saw myself working outside of Corporate America doing something so meaningful. When I was blessed to work in an accounting related role over 10 years ago, I had no clue that I’d be using that experience outside of the ordinary 9 to 5. I now work with businesses of all sizes under my own firm and it’s been a blessing to say the least.
What should our readers know about your business?
Jireh Bookkeeping & Consulting is a bookkeeping & consulting firm that’s dedicated to maintaining the financials of business owners and cultivating processes for business improvement. We also provide coaching to young professionals in various stages of their journey while providing tools that catapult them into success.
This vision was formed over time and started when I was a little girl. Growing up, my Father always taught me about financial literacy and the importance of using wisdom in finances. He taught me to think ahead, plan for emergencies, to save and invest. This sparked my interest in numbers which carried on in my life professionally. Because of this, I became a subject matter expert for family and friends looking for advice or assistance in the world of finances.
About 6 months after graduating high school, I found a role within a bank where I learned banking regulations and lending practices. This experience helped me to gain an entry-level role within general accounting a few years later. From entry-level to leadership, I gained a wealth of knowledge and skills that I now incorporate into my own company. This is how bookkeeping came into play. If business owners operate on a good financial foundation, they can be successful.
The growth in the corporate world came naturally, but it was also strategic. We were taught a very specific way of how our work life should go once we graduate but things have changed tremendously. This is why I developed my professional development program. You’re of value at any stage and I want to teach young professionals how to reach those meaningful opportunities.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m a Dallas native and I love my city so I’d keep it pretty traditional. My favorite thing to do when traveling is trying new restaurants so we’ll have breakfast at Maple Leaf Diner, Metro Diner and First Watch. For lunch we’d go out for birria tacos, get soul food from Sweet Georgia Brown and BBQ from Winner’s BBQ. For dinner, Kenny’s Wood Fired Grill and my favorite hole in the wall, Louisiana Catfish on Bonnie View Rd.
For activities, shopping at The Galleria and Stonebriar Centre is always a plus. We’d visit the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge and later head over to the Cake Bar for dessert which is a short 4 minute drive away. I love karaoke so a night at the Vetted Well would be a lot of fun. Anyone that visits Dallas, will notice “The Ball” so we’d visit The Reunion Tower Observation Deck and stroll through Downtown Dallas.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Well since I no longer operate alone, I’d like to give credit to my team for their excellence and willingness to jump in with ideas and creativity. It’s been a breath of fresh air having a team you can rely on to help cultivate the business into something great.
I’d also like to shout out my mentor, Mrs. KeAndria Perez. She’s been an integral part of my growth both spiritually and professionally.
