We had the good fortune of connecting with shahla shahmiri and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi shahla, how does your business help the community?
I grew with very wise and knowledgeable grandmother. She was a healer and i saw with my own eyes how she could help sick people. always when she was healing people or giving them medicine i used to tell her, nana , some day I’m going to be just like you, she used to look at me and say with a smile on her face ” yes some day you can heal the the world” i used to ask her but its impossible how?? and she said ” one soul at a time child one soul at a time” Now that I’m older i understand what she means, Saffrongirl is all about , nurturing, serving, and helping people to make the right choice and eat healthy one customer at a time.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
It took me thirty five years to get here, to find my voice, the courage to be who i was meant to be. from the time that i remember, i was fighting to survive, since i was a child but one dream, one thought always pushed me to move forward and never to give up and that was faith. faith in myself that im going to make it, even living in a refugee camp i know some how god will find a way to let me rise and speak my words. I knew some how one day i will be able to write a book about the journey that i went through, i will open my own healthy food business so, i can pass on the knowledge that i learned from all the women and specially my grandmother to me and this way i can help people to know that nature can really nurture our body and food can be our medicine. i have a mission and that is to help people through my food and my way of cooking.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Downtown McKinney is really my favorite place to go every Sunday, all those small shops and antiques stores! just love it
