We had the good fortune of connecting with Scarlett Bella Song and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Scarlett Bella, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
For as long as I can remember, I have always aspired to pursue a creative career as both an entrepreneur and performer.

Being artistic and creative is inherent to my identity. My outlook on life has always been with my own unique lens and I take inspiration from the world around me.

I enjoy translating my ideas and feelings into beautiful images. Sometimes I express those ideas/feelings through the performing arts and other times I express them through fine art, jewelry-design and/or fashion.

I take my education very seriously because I aspire to launch multiple successful businesses. I recognize that it takes a combination of business acumen, dedication and vision to be successful.

Ultimately, I aspire to leave a legacy and sustainable businesses behind for new voices to catapult to the next level.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am currently 13 years old and I’m still exploring my identity, interests, and talents. That said, I have a clear vision of the person I aspire to become and the essence of the art/creations/performances I want to put out into the world.

I’m equally excited to be a performing artist, designer and entrepreneur. At this point in my life, I am going through adolescence and I’m experiencing many changes. Recently, our family relocated from Los Angeles to Dallas, and I feel I have a lot of emotions to express through this transitional period. Also, prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, I visited over 15 countries and my travels definitely inspired my creations, fashion choices, and performances.

Finally, I am multi-ethnic (Korean and Caucasian) and I have interesting cultural roots to explore. In 2019, I visited South Korea for the first time and learned a lot about my heritage. It helped me develop a deeper appreciation for my family and the sacrifices they made to educate me and give me opportunities to become who I am today.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This is such a great question! I just moved to Dallas in June so I have a lot to explore and learn about this vibrant city! After a year of quarantine and lockdown in Los Angeles during the first year-and-half of the COVID-19 pandemic, I am more than eager to shop, eat, and be a “tourist” in my new home town.

While remaining cautious, I have ventured out for a few notable outings. My first adventure was to the Dallas Museum of Art. My most memorable culinary feast was at Nick and Sam’s. And, my first mini roadtrip was to Waco, Texas to visit the Magnolia Silos. (Along the way, we stopped at Crumbl Cookies to film a TikTok and get some delicious treats). Given my passion for jewelry design, I was also excited to visit Kristin Cavalleri’s Uncommon James store during its opening weekend in Deep Ellum.

I look forward to showing off my new hometown when family and friends come to visit. We will most definitely take in the arts, culture, shopping, and culinary delights the city has to offer.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
It is with deep appreciation and admiration, that I dedicate my Shoutout to Annie Chen, Founder & Owner of the whimsical children jewelery-line Annie and Sisters.

Annie founded her company on the values of supporting and uplifting others, and I aspire to do the same with all of my current and future ventures. I think it is important to incorporate humanity into every touchpoint of any performance, product or service I deliver.

Thank you Annie for inspiring me. And, thank you for taking a chance on me as we collaborate on our first teen jewelry collection together called “Annie x Scarlett” which debuts late this fall at www.annieandsisters.com
